Hey guys

I know I have asked lots of questions latly buy I thanks for your help.

I have 2 questions.

My first is how do you remove the tail lights on an 02 qx4? I removed the 2 10mm bolts but can't seem to pop the tAil light off. I am trying to changes a burnt out brake light.

Question 2 would be what negitive effects could there be with have too much oil in the engine. I just looked at the dip stick and the oil is well above the H on the stick. Could this cause poor gas mileage?

Thanks for your help again!

1. Just pull as hard as you can, it will come off. Wiggle it around. 2. Someone else can answer.

First question: Once the two screws are out, you have to pull straight back HARD. The clips that hold the light in are pretty strong. If you need to, stick a flat screwdriver between the side of the light and the rear quarterpanel and pry it back.

Second question: Lots of problem can occur. If the oil level is high enough, the crankshaft will start hitting it when rotating. This reduces fuel economy, since spinning through oil is much harder than spinning through air. The crankshaft will also froth / aerate the oil, which reduces it's lubrication and cooling properties.

Not too hard to drain some oil. If it's a small amount, then take off the oil filter, drain what oil is in there, and put it back on. This doesn't work too great with Pathfinders though, since our filters are so small. The other option is to take out the drain screw and drain from the pan. Gotta be fast or you'll drain too much!

well the crankshaft never spins in air, their is always oil in the pan its just constantly circulating throughout the engine. but depending on how much excess oil in in your engine can do damage to more than the engine, oil could burn off in the cylinders and ruin catalitic converters, which are not cheap. and yes it can reb you of gas mileage because the motor has to work harder bkuz of the pressure the excess oil adds. a simple way i figured out to never over fill the motor in an R50 is to fil the oil filter before screwing it on, i use stp oil treatment which i put in the motor first, then put 5 quarts of oil in. i hate how R50's take 5 1/4 or 5 1/2 quarts, makes things harder and more annoying.

well i always have the worst luck wit vehicles so i put in what it requires, idc if i go a little over, but ill never put less. the VG35DE has alot of moving parts in it, christ i have a buddy with a maxima and helped him replace one of the timing chains, one of three i might add, and it was hell just getting to the chains themselves. id rather be safe than sorry.

I've never really thought about it because it's never been an issue but that makes complete sense. Thanks for the education!

Thanks for the help guys!

I think i might just do a full oil change since its close to do anyways. Will 5w-30 syntec be fine through the winter?

Also which NGK spark plugs do you suggest? What does the gap need to be? Thanks again every one, you have been a huge help!

I run mobile 1 5-30 full synthetic all year round, but switching to royal purple soon. and i have the NGK plugs that cost about 10 buks a piece, not sure which ones they are exactly. they should be gapped to .043",which is 1.1mm.

5W30 Castrol Syntec should be fine. I'm up in Edmonton, run 5W30 dino oil and everything is OK. Even when I leave the Pathy outdoors for 8+ hours in -40C cold snaps, it starts fine and runs smooth.

I used NGK Iridium plugs, http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/p...ry=US
