'94: 1) My steering wheel and seat stopped automatically adjusting after I installed a new battery. Is there something that I have to reset or do these things just stop working after 8+ years?

2) Has anyone integrated a cell phone? If not, how come? If so, how much? (Okay, that was four questions.)

Thanks!

1) The memory has to be reset after disconnecting the battery. Also many people push the "cancel" button (for auto seat adjust) by mistake and not notice it.

I myself once thought it stopped working til i realized the "cancel" button was depressed. The button is right next to the controls for the steering wheel adjust.

i've just recently purchased a 93 in which an integrated cell phone was installed. there's some sort of receiver in the trunk, a mounting unit under the arm rest, the cell antenna at the back, and a little mike tucked into the top of the a pillar. though i wasn't the one to install it, i will be uninstalling it one of these days, so if you're looking for tips on how they ran what, i can pass them on if you're interested. i will say, it's a good, clean, job.

As far as I know, wiring for Infiniti cell-phones in included in all 90-96 Q's. In my 1991 Q, I had the Infiniti cell phone installed at the dealer - an OEM Motorola unit - and all they had to do was install the handset in the middle of the tray area beneath the arm-rest, screw in the remote phone itself in the trunk, attach the antenna to the rear glass and plug everything in using the existing wiring! The microphone was already installed in the front dash to keep it far away from the speaker phone (installed just behind the phone in the tray beneath the arm-rest).

With non-Infiniti phones, it might be a bit more difficult, but some wiring is available to use. A service manual may have the details.

BTW, the neatest thing about the built-in Infiniti phone in my 91 Q was that it automatically muted the stereo when I made or received a call!

I removed an Audiovox dealer-installed unit from "Q2" Pretty straight forward... follow the wires and remove. Had to pull the back seat and a few trim panels. The installation was good, but they didn't do much other than tuck things under the trim panels - no cable ties to other harnesses and stuff. You'll be amazed at the electronics and build quality of the early phones... mine had an all alluminum case for the "brain" in the trunk and a really cool mounting system. Hard to believe they've integrated all of this into the size of a thick credit card with 10 times the features!

One word of advice... be sure to plug all of the holes in the center console when you remove the handset! The very-expensive ABS computer is under there and if you dump a drink you want it protected as much as possible. I scratched the console pretty badly doing something else, so I just replaced it - but some duct tape and a new finisher (soft pad that sits in the bottom should do it.)
