I have to basic questions. First I know there is a member on here that added a shark fin antenna to his rogue. I would like to know where i can get one. How it works - is the reception good- do you have to drill holes- do they come painted- how hard is installation?

Second question is for those of you have added an after market navi sterio for your rogue . I have a Bose system
and like the way it sounds but really would love to have a navi unit in the truck. Ive decided on a pioneer or an eclipse unit . My question is how does the sound in the Bose system change or does it stay the same ? Has anyone had problems with speakers getting blown ? I know at times these upgrades can blow a speaker but currious if they will hold ok or will i have to buy new speakers in the weeks to come.

The antenna connector has a proprietary connector. It's not easily swapped and you cannot simply 'twist' wires together as it's a shielded coaxial cable. If you can find the thread with the shark fin antenna, I may be able to comment more on this.

If you truly have the BOSE system, then audio upgrades are far more involved. The system is far more complex and uses BOSE specific external amps for the speakers and subwoofer. You need to use special line converters to reuse the factory amps with an aftermarket headunit. This is not a simple DIY job, especially if you have never worked on car audio before.

Personally if you are serious about car audio, I would dump the BOSE system entirely and replace with quality aftermarket components. Yes, it will be very expensive but the results will be dramatic.

BTW.... In contrast, the base level audio is very simple and readily upgradeable with off the shelf parts.

$70 for antenna? Holly molly!!! Why do you want to spend these money for something that is barely visible? Get something more useful like hid kit or winter rubber mats. It wouldn't be 5 minutes job + that look on suv will be barely visible. Especially for those who have roof racks.

Actually I had it ordered a while ago and still find it very attractive when driving on the road
The fin itself is definitely very good quality compares to the ebay one's. By quality I am talking about its design to include a snake shape like antenna hidden inside since you are off without the tail. The sound quality is as clear as with the oem antenna. I have the rogue without the satellite radio (which has a different shark fin look) and has no problem at all with the reception. One thing to keep in mind is that I removed the taping due to its black color and thickness and replace with 3M adhesive tape. Doing so that the fin's attachment won't be so visible.

Here's the photos I take a while ago

This is the satellite radio version of shark fins but I find it unattractive especially on rogue.

Ah, now I understand. The stock antenna stays in place and this is merely a cover with an antenna element built in.

It looks really nice. I am not sure if I am ready to spend $70 for it though. Nice and simple mod.

Tranceboy : they painted and shipped to me. The white tape is just for alignment to the center, actually I use strings to tight to both rails so I get a better to place it centered. For satellite radio I don't think the slim version will work due to its rectangle base. The safest way is the rounder one I would say.
