2 questions about a 1993 maxima

[50Mustang]

I just bought a 1993 maxima with 50,000 miles from an old guy. The car is primo except for 2 things.

1. NO power when I first take off! Engine bogs and runs ruff at idle. However, when I'm on the freeway it runs GREAT!!

2. When I put the car in drive the transmission dosent engage right away.

Is it an SE or a GXE?

Either way, usual suspects for rough idle are injectors, plugs, MAF, etc.

I'd start by checking the plugs. If they're not NGK, that may be your problem. Plugs like Bosch or other alternatives to OEM NGKs tend to cause rough idle and hesitation in our cars.

As for the transmission, with only 50,000 I doubt you're in danger of loosing it. However, since it IS 14 years old, I suggest getting the transmission flushed if you haven't done that already. New, fresh fluid can make a huge difference.
