Problem 1:

The top (of the top right) 6 buttons on my a/c controls don't light up. (You know, where the little men and the arrows are supposed to be) I'm pretty sure they are supposed to light up white. I have it apart now and was messing with the wires in back but nothing really seemed to get them on. Randomly, they would turn on for a little then turn off a bit later. Randomly, not over bumps or hitting it.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Problem 2: I wanted to fix Problem 1 since I noticed problem 2 came about. I basically can just pull off the surround bezel. When i took it off, I noticed that 3 of the 4 tabs are broken. Any suggestion on how to fix the plastic pieces or put new ones on (that go inside the metal clips)

meh, or I can just buy the bezel/trim if someone has it since it's cracked already. LMK.

Thanks.

1. sounds like a loose plug on the back that's almost there but not quite snug.

2. That plastic sucks. It doesn't really like general adhesives that much. I'd look for someone parting their s14 in the nissan parts board and find that trim piece. I'm sure it'll cost a bundle at dealership but couldn't hurt to find out how much they want for it either.

i tried pushing the plugs in tighter and jiggling the wires but nothing is working. anyone know a specific wire i should be looking for?

yea, when i had the plastic piece out again it friggin broke. the plastic does suck. i tried super glueing it long before but the super glue even wore off, TWICE. so f it, i'm just gonna pick up another one.

The only part of my a/c contols that light up are the fan speed selector and the led's below the actual air direction buttons. I had it apart once and couldn't see any other bulbs.

well, you see those buttons from the inside/outside ventilation button all the way to the defrost button (above your green lights), all those should be lit up white. doesn't that piss you off now? it doesnt look like your "hot" is lit either...

[edit: it's a pain in the *** driving at night and not seeing the selections]

if you look on the inside of those units, they should tell you where you need to make the fix. There should be a series of small bulbs on the inside of those.

yea....

So today I go down to the Nissan dealership knowing that the blue bulb to the right is blown. Let's note that Nissan designed it to give you a nice "jail window" view of the bulb. You can see it, but they're laughing at you cuz you can't actually get to it (by any easy means whatsoever).

They parts guy said that they have the bulbs and they were $6 each. Ok, for a dealership part, maybe... obviously the most expensive LED on the market no doubt. So i say whatever, but how do I get at it.

Long story short, one of the other service guys said something along the lines of "yea we do lots of those... there's a bunch of screws and clips holding it on".. i asked if he could and he said "yea... it'd be about an hour of labor tho which would run $80. So now a blown light bulb is costing me $86 + tax for crappy design. I won't even mention how much a whole new unit costs..

Now if you see, once you take the plastic backing off (easy as pie) there are 2 circuit boards (the yellow and green ones in the pic).... yea those don't come out unless i wanted to smash it apart with pliers or something and mess it totally up.

Also, when I took off the trim and buttons, apparently the 4 ways are linked into the turn signals (circuit-wise) so my signals are temporarily out of service till my new trim piece i ordered from some kid arrives.

To sum this whole thing up in one word: Damnit.

Here's my cam fone pic so u can see what I mean:

For that amount of money, I would turn on the courtesy light when changing the settings.
