OK, i really need help here. I finally got my swap done and every thing was going great, running beautiful, so i drove it to my buddys for the first run and it was fine. So we went to hook up my aftermarket tach, and stupid me did not research how to hook it up so i just figured the signal wire for the tach ran to one of the coil wires and nothing was working, duh.. but..... while i was doing this i started the car up and the wire that i had spliced to the coil shorted out on the back of the instrument cluster and the car died and wouldnt start back up. So i was so sure that it was the ignitor becuase it gets power to the side with 4 pins when the key is on and i cant get power across the ignitor at all, even when it is cranking. So i ordered an ignitor, and it didnt work so i did a resistance test and to me it seemed like the chip was bad so i ordered another and still no spark. both ignitors give totally different resistance readings and none of them seem right, is there a chance that i could have gotten two bad chips? is there anything else i should check? sorry about the long post but i really need help because summer is just starting and i have no car, please help, i have searched everyhing. Thanks.

I've been doing some more reading, could the cam angle sensor be the problem of this???

Sounds like you burnt a wire some were. Obviously it's one of the wires that comes out of the ignition cylinder or the ignitor. I'd ohm the wire that you tapped into to make sure it's ok, then do all the wires on the same connector.

Also concerning the resistance tests... I've had 3 different SR ignitors before I got this thing runnign and every one of them gave readings different than the intended 0. I am not using a Q45 ignitor which is working and I never tested it... since the wiring was bad and I misplaced my most probable working SR ignitor and disasembled the first one to see what they look like inside, I probably won't be able to test it now.

i dont think i fully understand what you are tying to say, does that mean that even if i get different readings on the ignitors they could still be good?

Have you checked all fuses and fusable links?

yes i checked every fuse and they are fine. Fusible links i am not sure about because i dont know how to tell if they are blown, and i dont even really know what they are??? are they the things in the fuse box under the hood, not the relays or the normal fuses but the other things? another question is.. is it possible that i could have blown all 4 coil packs? thanks

I can't tell you where your fusable links are because I don't have the same car. The car I am putting my SR20DET into is 35 years old and came from the factory with only 2 fuses protecting all the wiring on the entire vehicle. I don't think you fryed your coil packs. I did something similar with my engine. I had a tachometer sitting on top of the valve cover while the engine was running. One of the wires going to it shorted out on the intake manifold. The engine kept running and no real damage was done. Just a lot of smoke untill I pulled the wire away. Keep checking everything, even the basics like making sure the ECU plug is in all the way, especially at the ends. Good luck and let us know how you do.

You most likely killed your ecu if no spark is going through your ignitor chip. Try borrowing a friend's ecu.
