got a guy at a baton Rogue dealer that will do it for 40 bucks. is it worth it, and will i feel a difference? also, will i have to run 93 octane? kinda thinking i would like to try it. i'm pretty sure thats the same performance gains i would get from a power programmer just $350 cheaper. any tips on freeing up some hp would be greatly appreciated.

Important to understand what ignition advance is designed to accomplish. The maximum leverage of the piston pushing down and rotating the crank occurs at 14-16 degrees after top dead center.

The only way to know is to dyno an engine and measure the torque created at +- increments from oem design.

Gasoline varies [not just in octane] as does the effect of air temperature.

You want to be just UNDER the ragged edge of knock [1 degree less] but OBDII auto advances to measured knock then does the back of for you, unfortunately this process overshoots to negative [required to stop knock once it starts]....................eventually the system gets it right and remembers to not push things too far.

The other problem is each individual cylinder will have it's own knock/ignition advance limit............why 2 Knock sensors to help KS computer to decide between 3-4 cylinders.
