2 cat. converters??

Are there two cats. on the s14's??? Why in the hell would there be two, and are both truly necessary?

the one on the down pipe is the cat the other one is a empty can, the last one befor the muffler is a resonator.

why would they put an "empty can" on the exhaust there???

resonators are used to control the sound of an exhaust. I believe thats how the s14's with stock exhaust are whisper quiet.

I knew about the resanator and what they are for, but there is only one resanator on you car, but along with the resanator there are 2 other cats, or as tom said 1 cat and 1 empty can. what is the empty can for??
