2 camshafts rust spots: any cleaning possibilities?

I got 2 camshafts rust spots on my rb25. What do I do to get rid of them? Do I lightly sand them down with fine grade or what opinion you guys have in mind?

Is it bad?I've used a strip of crocus cloth and ATF to remove light rust from a crank.

I used a green scotch brite pad, but it was just a surface coating so there wasn't any pitting or anything.
