When messing around the trunk trying to get the Bose amps out of my 1995 Q45, I found these two cable TV like connectors at the top, center part of main trunk frame, just in front of the top opening of the trunk but a bit to the rear of the speakers.

No idea what they are for. I have pictures, but no clue as to how to upload them. Nothing is connected to them. What are they, or what were they for?

I should note that the CD changer was removed from the car when I bought it yrs ago. But these are not located anywhere near the passenger side trunk floor level CD changer former location. Nor are they located near the radio antenna, which still works just fine.

Anyone with a clue? Thx :)

Pictures would be most helpful. You can post them by hosting them on a site like Google's Picasaweb, and then surround the link to the picture with image tags. Like this:

I'm going to guess your Q had a phone installed at some point, and the handset and antenna connected to those inputs - but that's just a guess.

later g50 Q came prewired for the optional handsfree telephone system, and they all had those connectors visible on underside of deck in trunk- they are useless now, as the system was analog.

You referring to these?

I'd assumed they were for the phone, as Qship said. Mine has the phone buttons on the steering wheel and the mic in the dash, but no other phone hardware as far as I can tell.

Do you have any holes drilled in the bottom of the armrest storage area? There is one on mine, which I assume is from phone wiring.

I was always curious about the purpose of that cable. Now I know..

That's where it was mounted- in the bottom of the center armrest storage...with a large hole beneath it. It didn't leave much storage space in the passenger compartment other than in the puny glove box.

There are two options you really don't want on an early Q45:

1.) The phone in the G50

2.) Navigation in the FGY33

At least the phone can be removed with little consequence. Also, I should add for the G50: An broken active suspension you don't want to restore.

Thanks folks. :)

Weird, lighter color and black cable TV connectors. My car is a block away now, but I do not remember seeing any holes in thw storage box. I will have to check later on. Mine has felt on the bottom. Maybe the former owner did that.

As always, the people here are the best !!
