2 of my right rear wheel studs broke off when I was trying to remove the spare tire I had on my 2005 G35 Coupe. in the process of tightning the lugs, I must have stripped them. After attempting to try to remove the hub, I realized that it is pressed in there and I can't remove the hub to take to the machine shop and have new studs pressed into the hub assembly without having to remove the rear axle. A shop quoted me $675 dollars to replace the 2 studs because they said they have to remove the whole rear axle to have the studs pressed in, which I think is insane. Is there another option here where I can do it myself and have new studs pressed in there and not have to pay that rediculous money. A quick response would be awesome. Thank you.

I had to replace a couple studs when my rims were attempted stolen. I bought a couple from Infiniti of Riverside. Major props to them by the way! You can just knock the studs out and then just put in the new studs by removing the caliper. It cost me about $10 in total for the studs and shipping.

thanks for the reply. If you don't mind, can you briefly or specifically explain how to go about doing that. I removed the tire, removed the caliper. But at that point, I was stuck!! How do I knock out the damaged studs. If you can specifically run through how to do it and what tools to use, That would be awesome. Thanks a lot man!! Very much appreciated!!

After removing the caliper and rotor, you can just hit the studs out with a hammer or rubber mallet. But make sure you rotate the hub to the opening behind the stud.

Here's a link to a how to:

It's not for the exact same purpose that you have and it's a different car, but part of it addresses how to put in new studs.

Hope that helps.
