2 bikes inside the EX

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

Has any attempted to place 2 bikes inside the EX with the back seats down. Will 2 bikes fit?

Not going to happen without jacking up the interior of your car. As the owner of a bike store and the owner of a EX I would encourage you to use a Thule roof rack on your existing factory rails or install a Curt hitch and a hitch rack.

Welcome to the Forum, bts.

Check out this THREAD and scroll down to "M45Caliber's" post.

It's a short and sweet Post and no picture was included... and no Bike-size was given either.

As for Threads discussing Bike Racks, just type Bikes or Racks into the SEARCH and read away!

There's been tons of discussion on them over the years.

Thanks for the timely reply.

I did do a "bike" search but these posts did not appear.

I just discovered the NICO site last night and this is an excellent site.

I guess 2 bikes with the front wheels removed will fit. I have a Thule rack on my G35 now but I would like to be able to put my bikes in the rear of the vehicle and lock the vehicle up. I could also go larger and get an Armada but I'm accustomed to driving sedans like the G35. I test drove a FX35 recently and it seemed bulky without alot of storage or utility.

I've only had one bike (road bike; 22" frame) inside, and that was with the front wheel and seat post removed, and this was only under "emergency" conditions. Two would be a tight, if not impossible, fit! Also, as mentioned above, if you do this on a regular basis, you are going to mess up your interior.

Best to follow the links above and consider a hitch mount or roof rack system.

I have carried two bikes( 60CM and 57CM frame road bikes) with the front wheels off in the back my EX. I put one bike in then place a cargo blanket over the top of it then stick the other bike in and the wheels. The other bike sits partially on top of the first bike. No big deal and far simpler than external racks.

I still say if you will will mess up your interior, those interior scuffs never seem to come out. If you do manage to get two bikes in your EX, take a picture I would love to see it, would look pretty crowded. Heck, it looks pretty crowded when I put 2 bikes on top of my EX.

One road bike with front wheel removed is no problem. Two bikes will require "layering". Performance Bike sells a rubber mat for indoor trainers the fits perfectly in the EX with seats down and protects the cargo area pretty well.

As buisnesschef said, try the hitch or the roof. I also have a Honda element and this is made to fit 2 bikes inside securely (my 29er fit real tight with the front wheel removed) but if you want to use something like the saris traps mounting plate, there's not enough room inside the ex. If you plan to pile bikes into the ex, it will probably fit.
