2.5s sub install - need brainstorm ideas

Heres the situation
- I live in an apt
- I can build (have tools, just not complicated cuts, lowes would cut)
- I have 2 alpine type r 12's (year 2005 models)
- I have 1 Rockford Fosgate 1001BD watt amp

I have a sub box i made for my old infiniti i30 and well, its a great box but its not as wide as id like so it would be "force fit" in between the rear suspension. Ontop of that, i am deciding whether or not i want 1 or two subs. I don't really need 2 of them, i can run 1 at 4 ohms and get 500 watts from the amp so that technical part is all worked. I have a stock system, non bose so i would be tapping into the rear deck for a signal and putting it through my Tsunami high level converter.

I like to use my trunk a lot, i buy/sell/trade home audio on craigslist constantly and tote around some pretty large towers most of the time so space is a concern for me.

My box, if i were to build a new one would have a chamber volume of about .11 - 1.0 cuft. Any suggestions on how or where i could mount it out of the way? Remeber, simple cuts, i wont have the ability to make angled cuts. Also, the box has to be secured. I prefer to use turnstyle bolts where each end has a hook and you screw the middle which pulls the hooks in closer to the middle to keep the wire tought. This just makes it easy to remove if i have any issues. I was also debating on placing the amp in the trunk or in the cabin. I'd need decent placements for both of those scenarios. I am getting a 4ga kit from knukonceptz, what legnth should the power wire be? I had a 4ga monster cable kit last time and i think i had like 22 ft, the knukonceptz is 18ft, a bit short IMO.

I am open to suggestions, just keep in mind, i am kind of going low key, my tastes have changed, i prefer a good low end but it doesnt have to blow my ears off. I am also open to doing a vented enclosure as well. I am on a budget, the cheaper the better, i even debated sawing my current enslocure in half. At this time, i just want a better low end. Secondskin will have to come soon too as the f*** rear deck rattles like a lil b**** and so does the trunk.
