New Altima owner here. I've owned Chryslers my whole life, and the oil filter has always been easy to find/remove on those cars.

I've found the oil filter on my '08 2.5S. My question: is there a better way to remove the filter other than pulling the passenger tire and removing the engine shroud?

I heard that some people can do it by just turning the wheel. Personally, Ill take the extra 3 or so minutes it takes to take off the wheel and put it back on just so I have more space. Also, with the tire off you don't even need to jack it up that high anyway because you can just reach the oil plug from the side of the car instead of going under it.

I just think its worth the little hassle taking the wheel off and putting it back on.

I always use my shop and put it on a lift. I don't take anything off

Thanks. Looks like I'll be stuck with the wheel trick.

are you guys drunk ???

i just jack my car up onto a jackstand (for safety obviously) and just pull back the plastic gaurd a bit so i can fit my hand in there... BOB's YOUR UNCLE !!! no need to pull off the wheel or even turn it imo.... but i suppose turning the wheel would help if you needed to get a filter wrench or a 2nd hand. definatly no need to take the wheel off
