well i have been filling at shell since i got my car 5 months ago. i have used regular for a while until i tried premium (there are three grades regular, premium, and vpower). premium was much more responsive in terms of driving, the car felt faster and not sluggish when you step on the gas. overall what grade do you guys recommend 89,91, or 93 for a 2.5s coupe?thanks in advance

It'll only make a difference if you get a retune on the motor such as with the BullyDog PowerPup. The engine was designed around 87 Octane/Regular gas. Using 91+ Octane gas on it isn't going to improve anything. It may improve it down the road when the engine gets a bit older, say in like 100,000kms +.

87 is fine. Some of us use it on the 3.5s as well.

My gf has a 2.5 and she has always used 87, (15,000 mi.) Ive always used 91 in my 3.5 (9,300 mi), Neither of us have had ne probs, I just go by the nissan reccomendations. Anyting higher than 87 in a 2.5 wont hurt by any means just whatever your preference.

The 2.5 engine does not benefit from anything about your standard 87 octane, simply because of the compression ratio of the QR25DE engine. The VQ35DE in the 3.5's has a higher compression ratio and takes advantage of higher AKI fuels, like the 91 and 93.

I tried 93 for the first time in PA at carlisle and there was a definitive increase over my usual 91 octane in canada. but that's for the 3.5SE, I don't know about the 2.5S but if the ECU is not programed to take advantage of the higher octane you won't see any gains. plus it might be actually bad for you since higher octane detonates more slowly and that might create problems for your engine if it can't adjust to it.

but if you get the power pup or the triple dog gt you WILL DEFINITELY FEEL AND GAIN HP since it has updated fuel maps for the higher octane ratings
