fairly comparable in price,,,,

plus Scion has the Pure Pricing going for it, less of a headache at the dealership.

any huge advantages of the a/c vs. the tC?

thanks!

personally, due to the immediate availability of the supercharger for the TC, the standard turn signals on the side mirrors, and the vast options available from the factory... if I was chhosing between the two, I would probably go with the TC.. but I still think the A/C looks better

Altima Coupe: +15HP, 6MT vs 5MT, More fuel efficient, Push button start, Bigger brakes, Dual exhaust, Not to mention how much better the altima looks.

Not a comparison in my opinion.

the number of options on the SCION are just staggering from the dealer... also, the supercharger version of the tC has 200 hp,

the other benefits you listed are definately pluses for the A/C...

if aftermarket options and dealr options are of concern, then tC has a slight edge... of sexiness, speed, fuel efficiency, etc are more your boat, then the A/C... pick your poison

tc has been in the market for a couple of years though. a/c has only been around for about a year or more...

but also the majority of tc's (and scion in general) market audience is for tuners, whether it be for looks or performance, as opposed to the ac... so not sure if more time will play that much of a factor into incorporating that much more aftermarket parts (if that is what you were alluding to).

coolbeans... advantages for both the 2.5 a/c and the tC, depending on what you are looking for,,, guess a buyer should test drive both before making a decision.

how about a 3.5 SE vs a tC though (assuming the tC owner can use that extra $$ for aftermarket parts).

I do have one concern about the tC, which made me not test-drive it a while back, I'm not sure if it was the right decision. a dood I know had a tC, drove over some random sharp bump thing (basically construction) going about 20 mph, and he popped his tire,,, I drove over the same thing in an altima at 30 mph, no problem..... So I always questioned if the tC's tires were cheap and not practical.

thx

I'd rather have my 2.5 Coupe, much sexier. The TC is a chics car, at least that's what I see around here LOL.

between the two, id go for the a/c.

the tc has some of the worst torque steer ive ever experienced in a four cylinder, also there is nothing seperating the trunk and the cabin its a hatchback setup ive never been a fan of that. also the tc is every where every 16 year old kid has one which isntantly makes me not a fan of it. dont get me wrong its a good car with a ton of aftermarket for it, but for a car that costs close to the same as an a/c the tc just doesnt feel like its in the same class as the a/c.

the a/c though.. my god what a great car...

The trunk space in the Altima is way better (IMO), I like that it is seperate from the rest of the car, because the TC is a hatchback. Also, not many people have A/C's yet. The TC does have plenty of aftermarket parts, but you'll need all of those to make it look any different from everyone elses. To me it's kinda like a civic, everyone has one, they just have to spend loads of money to make it different and better..and half the modded up TC's i've seen are

I've owned a tC and while it was fun to drive...everything about the car screams CHEAP! I mean everything in the interior just felt like it was going to break at any moment. Also with the glass roof you will get a lot of creaking between the body and the glass.

This is right up my ally. We had a 05 tc fixed up, traded it for an FJ Cruiser, traded a civic si for a 07 tc (see sig) because I missed it so much. We have just traded the tc this weekend for a Murano because we needed a family car. A tc is a dime a dozen take a day of driving around and count how many tc and how many a/c, I hated that everybody has one. Yes a lot of little girls drive them. We were paying like $150 extra every 6 months for the tc than our 3.5 a/c with state farm (just switched to metlife which it is about 200 less than the a/c) due to 35% of owners are under 25. One list. On the web ranks the tc 6th in the top ten list of money paid out on tc claims. This is the last year for the tc the replacement is rumored to compete with like srt/wrx market. One of my employees has a 2.5 a/c and I test drove one when buying our 3.5. I have also raced a few 2.5s and beat them no granted they were stock and the tc was not. So don't take offence 2.5 owners (I know I'm going to get flame'd for this one) but I personally thought the 2.5 driving experiance felt cheap I'm not saying 3.5 owners are better or anything just my opinion. So I would go for the tc it has much sportier feel to it and drives much better than a 2.5. The 08-09 has projector headlights then you have to love the panorama glass roof, it's much cheaper in cost. With the extra money you would save you can make an all TRD model almost with LSD, coilovers, sway bar, intake, and exhaust may have enough for the supercharger also. You can do much more with the tc right now. Also the community that comes with it is great check out scionlife.com, scikotics.com, yoursciontc.com, etc... Only thing the 2.5 has over the tc is a 6mt or CVT, intelligent key, push button start and that's it I believe. I have a 14 month old and the tc backseat is much larger and easier to get her into it. The stroller would actually fit int the hatch it will not in the a/c. I also had 2 12" subs that will not fit into the a/c I need to but some 10"s now. The tc also co we with 17" rims and not hubcaps. For the price of the tc I do t think there is anything that can beat it in value for what it has to offer they are like the civic was the 90's. Of course when I had to get rid of one of our sport coupes it was a no brainer that the tc would go and not the 3.5.

I've driven both...the tC does not drive as well as the A/C...at ALL.

I'm comparing a stock tC to a stock 2.5S. The torque on that car is just horrible. I felt so slow and the need to floor it each time just to get a little speed. On the outside, the tC looks to be TOO short. The A/C is just right for a coupe.

Interior-wise, the tC felt very cheap. It reminded me of years ago, when I was deciding between a Corolla vs an Escort. The doors are thin feeling, and I just don't feel all that safe in the tC.

I'm biased towards the A/C, of course...but that's because I've driven both. It's no comparison. A/C all the wayyyyy!

When shopping I test drove Mazda3, Corolla XRS, tC, and AC. The Corolla XRS and AC where my top choices.

tC looks like a kids car or girls car. Nice car though.

Mazda3 is too common and the worth of the will depreciate really quick. Also its 4 doors. But it was a really nice car and came with tons of options for the price! Seemed like a solid car.

Corolla XRS - I believe it shares the same engine as the tC. It looks a bit bubbly and girly, but also looks pretty good and aggressive at the same time. 4 door.

Altima Coupe - Economical, looks great, and price reasonably. Basically I wanted a car that was good looking and fun, but that also had the adult look to it. I think the AC pulls it all off. WINNER!!!

I was originally looking at the scion tC when they first came out in my junior year of high school.

By senior year a bunch of kids had the car already, which instantly killed the allure of having something new and different.

2 years after high school I had the money for it, test drove it, but by that time I was used to it being a girl car and was rethinking what car I should get. The pure pricing system is a double edged sword. If you just can't handle fighting for a good deal then pay a bit more.

I ended up getting the A/C for about the same price the tC would've been and the 3.9% interest that nissan gave me. I remember from negotiating at the scion dealership that they dont budge on interest rates either. Might want to consider harassing a nissan dealership to see what kind of deal you can get, because your not gonna change the scion price.
