With a 2.5" hi-flow cat and 2.5" mandrel bent piping, no resonator, how do you think a 3" authentic tanabe muffler will sound? I just realized I was sent the wrong size muffler (from like 4 months ago). Right now it sounds like *** at WOT because of a $40 shipped ebay muffler (had to rush so I can get my tag).

Like a loud fart can, not too much you can do about that unless you go with a more traditional style muffler...but that isn't cool.

Bleh...Ive been so tempted to scrap this piping (losing a ton of money, but...) and just get a BRM exhaust.

Maybe I should just add a resonator in addition to the muffler...you dont think it would sound at least a little better than this setup? Cause if I decide to scrap this piping, its gonna be a loooong time before I can afford a quality, bolt-on exhaust.

A resonator would indeed help, but NA 4 cylinders just normally don't sound that great. There are of course some exceptions with quality, researched exhaust sytems and non-folger's style "mufflers." If you really would lose too much money on the piping, see if you can get a resonator and a more stock style muffler like the one greg uses for the BRM setups.
