I'm in need of a new exhaust and I plan to get one at a local shop. I was thinking of a straight 2.5 pipe with a tip(monza?)but it might be too loud. hahaha. What you guys think or experienced before? 280z by the way

n/a? I'd run a muffler, maybe a glasspack or supertrap but the complete lack of a muffler form my experience really robs the bottom end of power

My 240 doesn't have any exhaust after the headers, and it isn't unbearable. You couldn't have a conversation at regular voice level, but you wouldn't get pulled over by the cops.

when you said no exhaust after the headers you meant you have a straight pipe? Regardless if you do or not is there a way you can record the sound for me and at WOT? haha

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOXcMG58O7E I want something similar to this in term of sounds but not exactly like it. I guess a screamer but a nice screamer

Evil, which muffler you know will be best for the job? yes, it's a NA

Magnaflow mufflers tend to produce a lower, modest note. I've had one of them on my 88 NA when I drove it, and my 86 NA has one as well. I like them. That monza tip doesn't sound too great IMO. maybe its just because the quality of sound from the clip is sub-par, however with a glasspack that exhaust has potential to sound pretty awesome.

I'm sorry I can'r recomend anything specifically for the n/a, I am far more versed on the turbo's which is easier, less resptriction equals more power, but with n/a's you actually want a bit of resistance, I ran the MSA muffler on my S30 when it was n/a and was quite happy with it, and they offer a complete headerback system for a real bargain price and it just bolts on

the msa kit is a full mandrel bent header back exhaust with hangers mullfer and even a shiny tip all for $120!http://www.thezstore.com/page/...-6021might be easier than piecing together your own, and a tip is an optional purely cosmetic item, as I matter of fact I still have the chrome tip form themy old msa setup as I never installed it

I don't have any way to record the sound, but by no exhaust I mean no exhaust. There's the flange and a small part of rusted pipe on the end of the header. Funny thing was, when I picked up the car the exhaust system was there, after the ride on the trailer back it wasn't. Never bothered to go looking for it...

It'll be loud, but not ridiculous. You may get tired of it after a little while. I would, but some people don't mind if they are used to driving that loud.

Usually two or three glass packs do the trick to mellow out the frequency a bit more reasonably.
