Got a noob question for you KA-T vets. Is it alright to run a 2.5 exhaust as opposed to a 3? I know 3 is "optimal" and all but hey, I'm not too ambitious with my horsepower.

Just go 3" so you wont regrett later and probably spend more money on another exhaust system. If you're afraid of it being too loud then research more about exhaust because i know there are 3" exhaust out there that isnt loud.

2.5 is fine, however 3 inch is recommended O/C. 3 inch really isnt that loud with a turbocharger in front if it. I have a high flow cat and a resonator though.

Whats your main reason for wanting to go with a 2.5?

Mainly the noise issue.

Anyone run a 3" BRM exhaust?

I run the 3 inch BRM with a cat + resonator, i dont really think its that loud even at WoT. A lot more drivable than a N/A with a large catback, thats for sure.

Just go 3". That way you don't have to swap it later.

I've had both on various cars and always noticed a difference when increasing the OD to 3" or bigger. Turbo cars love flow, another reason straight through muffler design is key for our cars. Flow Master and other re directional chambered mufflers are a bad idea. Back on topic...

Buy a silencer, they screw right into the end of the muffler. You don't even notice they are there, but they cut the noise by more then half in some cases. My RS*R came with a silencer...

It is nice for drives on the highway when you're in the car for over an hour, the loud drone otherwise really sucks for conversation. I also use it at night if I'm working on the car in front of my house. Since it's retarded loud at 5000 rpm at 0100...keeps the neighbors semi happy...lol.
