hey guys i was wondering if anybody has driven their coupes and had their engine completely shut off on them while they were driving... i was driving last night doin around 65-70 mph and my engine completely turned off for whatever reason but the accesories were still on such as the radio interior lights etc... the steering wheel was locked so i started hitting my brakes to slow down and popped the clutch to try to turn the car back on... it worked but im really curious on to why the engine turned off... Could anybody help me figure out some possible ideas/solutions on what the problem could be?

Only thing I can think of is a loose ground wire.

Sounds like some sort of voltage issue to me, causing a stall.

How many miles do you have on the car? It is possible it's spark plug time. Also, a battery with exceptionally low voltage can actually cause a car to stall. I have had this happen in two vehicles. When the proper conditions are present, this is not unusual. In my case, it was the car dropping to idle and the AC system clutching on (I know it's winter, but your defroster uses the AC system, so this can happen if you are running that). I also possibly second the battery issues as I have witnessed several alternator issues with the early 4th gen 2.5 Altimas. The alternator works but sometimes doesn't generate the proper load to sustain the car, which could also trigger a stall.

Any number of things here. Good luck. My instincts lie within the above blurb though.

i have about 52000 miles on the car... and you might be right with your hypothesis here lol the last time i got an oil change my dad told me that i might need a new battery very soon and at the time of the little incident i was running my defrosters so i think you might be on the right track here Xenon SE-R

yea it happened again today... last time i got my oil changed my mechanic said i needed a new battery sooner or later so i guess the source of the problem comes down to the battery
