2.5 Engine noise

my engine is making a weird raddling noise and i went to the dealer and the mechanic said that the engine is supposed to sound like that. It's really annoying me. it mite just be me, i drive a diesel truck at work that is loud.i am so annoyed that i mite upgrade to a 3.5

Can you be more descriptive?

Where is it coming from, as exactly as possible? Can you always hear it, or only when accelerating? There is a known minor problem within the firewall that can cause a rattle.

The dealer ship will usually say whatever just to get you off their ***, as a general rule... So maybe go to a different dealer, or even a third party, to get the cause identified.

there is a loud clicking sound coming from the engine, it happens always and never goes away, i don't know the parts of the engine but it is coming from the silver thing at the front of the engine. the noise was not there when i bought the car but i started hearing it at about 1500 miles

It might be the front heat shield. Had the same issue

Could be anything: worn cam lobe, blocked oil passage, sticking valve, piston slap, bad plug could be causing a knock....

No way the Dealer will tear down your motor for a noise. You could wait for it to fail, but that's no fun.

3.5 rocks.

Sell it and move on. Otherwise your VIN will have documented problems and you'll never be able to sell...

Hmm I disagree with selling it right away.

It all depends on how much trouble you want to go through with the dealership. The car is under warranty, is brand new, and you have all of the bargaining chips on your end. If you try, they will have no choice but to fix it or get you a new one. At this point, of course, they are hoping that you will go away after hearing "oh that noise is normal."

The sad thing is that to deal with those bastards you have to lose essentially all shreds of dignity... Basically sinking to their level. It's not fun, I'm sure :/

It's the heatshield. There's a recall for it. No biggie, don't go selling you car because of that.

call your dealer, tell them you want to bring it in for the heatshield recall, and read them your vin number to confirm. theres a heatshield recall on all 2.5s out.

yeah its like a second or 2 of knocking when i start it and a little bit when im in park, but when im driving or idle, it goes away...

they told us it was normal as well. i looked at em like a confused dog (head cocked to the side) and the guy goes yeah really.. my dad went in bitched a bit and they said yeah its normal.
