I'm a second owner of a 2008 A/C 2.5 CVT with around 75k miles so far. Lately I've been experiencing problems with low idling to the point where i can hear the individual cylinders going off and once every 20 times or so, it will stall immediately after starting the engine. Another time it stalls easily is if I come to a sudden stop. Once i had to brake hard from 45mph to take a sharp corner and the car stalled and i almost hit a wall at 20mph.
Another thing I noticed is that when the engine does sound like it is about to stall, I can see the battery warning light flashing on the dashboard until it stalls and the light doesn't come back anymore.
Mechanic took a quick look around and heard what I had to say and concluded that it may most likely be the throttle body or the fuel pump. Throttle body could be the issue but I can't rule out the fuel pump because I have had a engine service light a couple months back and the code indicated that the fuel sensors were faulty and I manually turned the SES light off because the fuel level gauge was in fact malfunctioning but very rarely. At times it would read completely empty but after restarting the engine, it was fine.
My question is, is there anything else I should be taking care of that could be causing this issue of low idling? such as spark plugs, fuel injectors, air filter (Injen Short Ram)?
