Hello, I am in the market for quality coilovers. I have a "newb" question, please don't get upset as it only requires a few mins to answer and I HAVE used the search feature. I have done a lot of research on this site and other forums in regards to compatibility of coilovers for the 3.5/2.5 altima coupe. I keep striking out. Anytime "quality" coilovers, even for the 2.5 come up, Tein is consistently coming up. However, I never see any definitive statements or experiences of people using coilovers that are technically for the 3.5 and using them on a 2.5. Am I over thinking this? Is it some kind of unwritten rule that people buy 3.5 coupe application coilovers for 2.5's? Can I get coilovers that are made for a 3.5 coupe and install them on my 2.5 coupe? I believe coilover companies do acknowledge special orders as far as spring rates and valving. If this is the case, is this the route I need to go to get "quality" coilover's for my 2.5? I greatly appreciate anyone's time they take out for explaining this to me and it will solve all my problems. I am not comfortable with the 3 choices I have after many, many hours of research on k-sport, megan, and BC. That is why I am asking this question. Thank you!

**Side note...I would have posted this in the Technical section of this forum, however after going through it I realized it is unfortunately over looked quite often.

I think what you're talking about only applies when purchasing springs. Because 2.5 and 3.5 springs are designed to carry different engines with different weights obviously. With coilovers, it doesn't really matter. I've seen people run 3.5 coilovers on 2.5s with no problems.

You don't see a lot of Tein reviews because they're the most expensive out of all the coilover companies available to the Altima coupe. They're more comfortable than most coilovers out there but then again, it doesn't go that low. I always recommend BC's because I've ran them for almost 3 years with no problems. And you can build it however you like.

Thank you for your response and insight. I was mainly just trying to point out that lets say, on Tein's website, they have a few models of their coilovers that are for the "3.5" yet no description or part code for "2.5". For example I was looking at the Street Basis/Advance and they only have one code for the 3.5 FF 2dr. So if what you're saying is correct, I should have no problem utilizing coilovers that designate they are only made for a "3.5" from any manufacturer? I shall say this with caution, I do not want something "cheap". BC is the only one I even considered in that particular price range of the k-sports and megans. I feel for what I am looking for, a more expensive coilover will give me what I want. A lower ride height is great and all but I've never been about looks as much as I appreciate and want/need performance.

If you call Tein, I'm sure they'll tell you that it won't work. But it's been done before, so really it's up to you. BC is a reputable company and their coilovers are %100 performance. If you have a healthy budget then go for Teins but don't think it'll be THAT much of a difference between Teins and BC's.
