Alright guys,

I have really trying to be better about searching the forums first before posting when it comes to asking questions but I haven't had much luck on finding anything about this topic for some reason. If someone could possibly answer my questions or direct me to a thread that will I would very much appreciate it. I thought about posting this in the Altima interior/exterior forum but doesn't seem like there as much traffic there so hopefully this is acceptable.

I live in a fairly small city or town if you will (about 60,000) so yesterday I was rather surprised to stop in at one of my favorite watering holes to see a black 3.5 fully loaded A/C that was a manual!!! It instantly took me back to childhood days when the kid down the block got a new bike that was just a little bit better than mine. I was envious to say the least!

One of the many things I liked about this unicorn compared to mine were the mirrors. I know that a lot of you guys have upgraded to these mirrors and it seems like one of the less expensive upgrades a guy with a 2.5 can do. To those of you that have done the upgrade I have the following questions.

-When you order them I am assuming they come unpainted? Do you order them directly from Nissan or is there better places as far as price goes on the web?

-I know from the fog light threads that it's kinda a crap shoot on whether you have preexisting wiring for things such as fog lights and mirrors. Just wondering what sort of success rate you guys have had on having the wiring already in place for such an upgrade? FYI Mine is a 2008 2.5 Pretty bare boned as far as options.

-Are you able to get the to fold in? It's one of the main reasons I want to get the upgrade as my garage is pretty tight as far as width goes. And if you are indeed able to get them to fold, how do you trigger them to fold? Do you have to wire them up to a switch or????

Thanks in advance as usual!

Answer to your last question, you have to manually fold them, there is no switch.

I'll let the rest of the 2.5 guys answer the rest.

Theres no way to see the wiring unless you check, start pulling off panels!
They come unpainted (should run you 40 to get the pair painted)
I did some searching but couldnt find the install thread that will show you the wires you are looking for, help guys!

Take off the black triangle on the inside of the car behind the mirror and if you have three wires in the door harness going to the mirror you are NOT pre-wired. If you have 7 wires you are. There have been a select few sedans that had seven wires but weren't actually connected at the other end. 99% of people with seven are prewired. If you aren't, fear not I helped make the write up on how to do it on a non-prewired car. I'll have to dig for the thread though...

Thanks for all the replies guys,

bovstar22 (guessing your name is Kevin from your sig picture) you literally have the exact same car as me, an 08 2.5s same color. Let me know when you find that write up, I would really appreciate it.

Also...where is the best place to order these? Nissan direct or will that cost me more than I should spend?

I paid $152 each for the mirror assemblies, $14 each for the covers, and then $100 to get both covered painted. I'm sure you could probably get it done cheaper than that now. I'll PM you the link to the write-up on how to do it since its on the "other" forum.
