well the title kinda explains it, im in the line to start and engine build and I havebeen doing a ton of research, now just want some opinions with pros and cons of each.Money isnt an object, and both would be using a stroker kit from BC. whats your take on each?

Looking for roughly 525-550 whp, also using for road racing mainly with some drag in there for fun.... Opinions welcome!!!!

stoking an sr is pointless IMO (I bored my sr to 2.2, to get to 2.3 you have to stroke and bore it). you might as well go with the KA if that is your plan.

u can still get 500+hp on a 2.0, but the torque will be lower compare to bore one

All I can say is this sounds really expensive. Road racing on a engine putting out near 3 times its stock wheel horsepower is a huge challenge unless you have tons and tons of money to make not only the motor perfect, but the rest of the car as well. I mean we're talking roll cages, oil/transmission/differential coolers, shake-down runs, etc... Even then, reliability is going to be a huge issue.

I'd say that with either motor, it's going to be just as expensive, so why not go with the SR that has a weight advantage since we're talking road racing.

Why do you need so much power? Some of the best road racing, such as spec miata, use basically stock motors. Much better than having to worry about frying an $1500 turbo due to prolonged high temperature exposure.

If you've got the money though, go for it, I'd love to see pictures of the build!

ok well I am not planning on road racing the car competitively in scca solo1 or anything i just want to be able to take it there every once in a while to have fun with, the car is a totally luxury for me and not a daily driver so Im leaning more towards the KA for the trq advantage

Ok, if the Engine Specialist may step in......What makes the SR such a great engine? Stock. Why is it so sturdy and acceptable to upgrades? Design. Old School theory is great, no replacement for displacement, a fact that is tried and ture since the begining of internal combustion. But.....there is a reason there is no balancing shafts in an SR. Its a square bore. Meaning the Stroke is the same as the bore. 86mm by 86mm, this allows the rotating assembly to naturally cancel out ugly vibrations. So there ya go, The only other reason SR's are great is the full girdle main cap assembly. (Also why 1st gen talons(4g63) are great but they have 2 seperate girdles in stead of one, and the ports in the head are huge- but that is besides the point)

well if you have so much money to do this! why not just fabricate a rb26DETT into the 240, a few people are doing that now! with tremendous hp! and would probly be a lot cheaper then changing all internals in the sr or ka engine! not to mention what kind of a transmission are you thinking about using with a 530whp engin???
