Helpp!! Im trinying to relcoate some harness stuff and i have this 2.2k resistor in the coil pack harness. Does anyone know what this does, its only on cylnders 1 and 6 and ts off from the ignitor signal to ground. The only thing i can find in the service manual that even resembles anything about this is the procedure for checking timing is on cylnders 1 and 6. Would it be ok to remove this?

Pics can be provided if needed thanks.

not sure what you're talking about but normally there is a capacitor inline with the ignition power to help keep noise to a minimum.

that would be my guess...

the srt4 i was working on yesterday had one also..id leave it, its rumored that the background noise could damage your injectors

Ok a little bit of wrong info yesterday. Its only on the passenger side coil bank specificlly cylnder number 6.

Here you can see both in the pictures. It goes from the ingnitor the brides the coil and the resitor together, then the other side of the resistor goes to ground. The single clip I am holding is the resitor ground wire, you can open the ground on the resistor by uncliping this.

Ground for the resistor

index finger is the resistor

Just a quick guess but I would assume it's for a closed loop signal. If you were to have a wiring/coil fault the ECU would know so and kill ign???

my best guess without looking at the fsm (since its not handy) is that its a signal conditoner for those using timing lights.

Yeah, the connector on the ignitor has the "error check" IIRC. I bought a second VH45 over the weekend and started taking it apart. This one is an early style and I saw that same resistor. I don't recall from looking at the late VH45DE that I have. I did notice a pair of wires on the very connector of the ignitor that appears to be the error check.
