only 25 psi??? as I was reading I was thinking more around like 40-50 then why do they need 4 turbos, one turbo could do that, is it because spooling time is faster?

OHV? It should be making that kind of power. I mean, come on. An RB26 can make 1200, on the street, on 1 turbo. It is extreme and over the top, but not all that impressive. Big power old tehcnology is still just that: Old. But I guess that is the American way of things when it comes to cars...

id would think the 4 turbos would spool up faster , is there any specs given on the turbo size ?

there is a more usuable torque freindly line useing a pushrod engine , OHC's are often very peaky in the powerbands

the anti pushrod people will be worried with the next Z06 vette , variable valve timing on a 6.0 liter pushrod v8 , i cant wait to get more information on how they got the variable cam timing (and possibly lift) on a cam that rides in the valley of a v8 , then there is "displacemtn on demand" that may end up in that engine , im thinking 500 hp and 500 lb ft and still get 25-30 mpg on the highway when cruiseing along at 70 mph

I thought the vette was supposed to be going DOHC?

it lists what turbos it uses in there, I'm wanting to say it said T7uh...something, probably wanna check for yourself on it.

edit:upon skimming through said article again, all I could find is that the turbos are derived from an Indy car design....

no the vette will retain pushrod design , the only DOHC vette that will have ever been made for the next 7 years will be the ZR1

a dohc v8 wont fit in any c5 derived vette which is what the c6 is , just a updated restyled c5

bastards...

I remember them talking about one a while back and using a variable valve timing on it, or just VTEC with a different name on it because the patent is up on it.

I read in a automotive engineering magazine that the next corvette motor is going to use specialized pushrods allowing for 3 valves per cylinder (OHV, SOHC, DOHC, it doesnt really matter, its the number of valves that makes the difference) allong with some sort of variable valve timing device.

EDIT: also BMW, Honda, Nissan, ferrari and a whole host of other auto manufacturers have been using variable valve and lift control for a couple of years now, its about time some of the technologies were used by domestic manufacturers

it has been , fords had a form for years on the ztec 4 cyl but it more revoloves around the exaust cam and emissions more than anything

i belive the vortec 4200 inline 6 has varable timing and maybe lift

cars in the us havent needed efficent engines for years , there has been no need for smaller cars with more efficent engines and drivetrains , americans typiclly look down on the highly efficent small car , and go for the gusto with some overwight inefficent beheamoth like my cadillac

in japan and eurpoe where gas is 2-3 times the cost of what it is here there is quite a demand for small engines that produce tons of power while sipping gas, that is also why small diesel cars havent cuaght on here in the us like they have in europe , well that along with the high sulfur content of our diesel fuel

edit : proof of the diffrence is very evident , overseas big bucks were spent in the devolpent of varible valve and lift , whereas in the US close to the same ammount (if not more) was invested in SUVs and Pickups , Ford spent more money devoping the new F150 than they did when they devolped the 1994 mustang or event he new one for that matter as they have based it off of the LS platform (dew98)

I have a pushrod two valves per cylinder ford 3.8

I want another DOHC car though, they seem to sound way better when revving up higher while the pushrod sounds so strained or atleast mine does, it sounds funny over 3000rpm...
