Anyone else have a problem with a tapping sound on the 2.0? Been hearing it for a couple months now, since the cold weather moved in its a lot louder and never goes away completely. Only 41k on it

I use 5w30 Pennzoil Platinum full synthetic, temps here in Ks have been in the 30s for lows. The noise is really loud on start up, i go start it about 10 min before i leave for work and its still quite loud when i return. Its noticeable under normal warmed up temps also. Taking it to the local dealer to have them check it out, gonna leave it overnight so they can hear what i hear in the morning. My wife said shes been hearing it but I hadnt noticed til the temps dropped. Kinda makes me sad cause I had a modded 06 qg18 with over 70k on it and the motor still sounded like it did when it was bought.

All temps should be 5w30 according to Amsoil's literature. Probably a wise decision to have them take a look.

Hopefully they can figure it out. I was reading up on the 2.0 having defective rings causing oil to seep pass the pistons causing problems. Not sure what years it was under though.

Dealer confirmed my worry, defect in the block #3 cylinder. Shortblock on order should be in next week sometime thankfully under warranty. Maybe I'll start putting a bit of cash on the side for a better engine in the future. Maybe QR or VQ
