so 1 day i put my car on dyno and got LOW #s . 1st thought was boost leak .

searched for a leak but couldnt find anything , although i didnt remove the entire intake system to thoroughly check , so it couldve been underneath somewhere .

another thing , the car occasionally cuts off at low rpms in accel . only at low rpm and speeds like if im making a turn .

so the i started thinking .. its not a boost leak , its my cat conv being clogged .

just wanted some opinions as to other ideas on y the car is acting the way it is .

Ummm, ruling out a boost leak would be quite easy with a boost gauge....

Cat convertors caving inside of themselves is pretty rare, wouldnt be my first place to look

Verify boost first

its not totally ruled out . the boost gauge does seem a little off though , i forgot to mention that .

ive been told that w/ my car along w/ alot of 300z , the boost gauges tend to not " work " as they should . and to determine accurate boosting , to install a aftermarket gauge .

but what would be the reasoning for the car shutting off .. not the boost .

Does the car start right back up after cutting out?

I've had a cat implode on me before... the car still runs, but the exhaust sounds WAY different, and there is hardly any power at all.You might want to check your TPS and coolant temp sensor.

does the exhaust sound way different? Does it die quickly, or slowly?

nope ..

could it be the injectors / fuel regulator ?

I doubt its the injectors... even if one was cutting in and out, the car would still run. Fuel Pressure Regulator is mechanical... and this sounds more like an electrical problem.

Again, if it were the FPR, fuel pressure would either build or fall gradually, and the engine would die gradually, not just cut right out. This would be tough to diagnose without actually being there. Does it puff out a large amount of black smoke after starting it up after it had died?

not that ive seen or noticed ,. i know im running a little rich though .

if it were electrical .. would could be the cause for the crazy amount of power lost

but like i said .. if im paying attention .. i see the battery light start to flicker a bit and then it will cut off .. unless i catch it in time and rev the rpms .

If that is the case, you could have a big electrical short... sopping up so much energy that your spark is becoming weaker and cutting out. When you rev it up, your alternator supplies more energy which keeps everything running.

Look for shorts and corroded wires.

If your friend is good with wiring and stuff, have him bring a multi-meter and check for anything out of the ordinary.
