Well the wife and I made our first road tip in the G this weekend. We went to Richmond Va for the Indy car race. (Her first race experiacne) It was about 310 miles round trip.

Mostly highway driving up and down the mountians of SW Va to get to Richimond. I had the cruise set at about 75mph both ways w/ the AC cranking.

When we got home this evening, the G had consumed 12.5 gal. After doing the math, I got 24.5 MPG! (We did not take the G to the race track. So there was no prolonged perids of idleing to leave the track. Rode w/ my brother in law and used his gas for that )

What is everyone else getting HWY mileage? I think this is pretty good for mostly up and down some pretty big hills.

Nice. There's lots of topics on gas mileage. I can get 24.5-26.5 on road trips. Lately its been closer to 26 since I changed to synthetic oil.

As normal as a purple elephant...when you're not stoned!!!

Fuel economy varies greatly by region, age, and mods.

I think I've been able to clear just over 21mpg on the hwy. I also am forced to use gas with some of the highest ethanol content. I typically drive 80 on the hwy.

One of my next projects is to fix my underbody tray. The tard who owned it before me though it was ok to run over parking bumps and the like and literally tore the thing to shreds in some areas. I think I'm getting excess drag because of it.

Well that is about what i get too. I pump 100% gas becasue i can get about 2mpg more out of it. I hate that ethonal Shi* !

My 6mt G idles at 2800 rpms at 80mph... I think that is why i can get over 30 on the hwy in FLA. That is what i normally drive on the hwy! I also keep my G washed and waxed all the time... some times 2 times a week!

If you have an auto... That is Very good! But not so hot for a 6MT

It is a 6MT.

Someone had mentioned age/ mileage. I only have 17000 miles on it. In my expereance, most cars start getting their "EPA" mileage after about 25000 or so. At least that is what the VW's I work on do.

I also live in SWVA which is moutianous. On this trip there were several (20 or more) 600 ft plus elevation changes one way.

So I think w/ some more miles on her, when she is good and broke in, the mileage should improve. Plus I will be swithing to synthetic oil at the next service. I'm sure the dealer I got it from used regular oil.
