Hello, it's good to be there.

My girlfriend and I are freshly-christened Maxima enthusiasts. She just bought a '00 pearl white GLE (auto/leather/sunroof/16's) and we so immediately fell in love with it that I'm in the process of trying a couple Maximas on for size myself.

A black '00 GXE that a dealer is throwing at me just isn't lighting my fire... not enough options...

BUT I'm talking to a dealerhip right now about a Champagne '01 with many goodies including the 17's and a 5-speed, and he says it also has the special (+5hp due to airflow management) muffler. Ho told me there's no badge on it signifying the specific model of Maxima, so my question is: is this an Anniversary Edition? The only thing that makes me wonder if it isn't is the fact that it has a cloth interior (I'm ok with that).

It looks like there's an SE badge on the one you're looking at buying (looking at the right side of the trunk lid). I'm not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure than all Maxima AEs came with leather seats. The car you're looking at also doesn't appear to have the AE body kit.

I really wouldn't worry about the 5hp difference between the AE and standard Maxima. I have a 2001 Infiniti I30 which is mechanically the same as the Maxima (and has the 227hp engine) and having driven Maximas as well can say the 5hp is not noticeable.

And for what it's worth that price seems a little high for that car. I paid $11,200 18 months ago for my 2001 I30 with 61K on it.

Yeh, could have looked a little closer there... I just spoke with the dealer as well (who reassured me that it's an SE, no problemo there), and well, I must have been confused with another maxima I've been courting, lol.

I couldn't care less about 5hp either.

Not a bad price but I would offer 7500 and see if he takes it. I drove a 01 Maxima with 90K miles and he wanted 8800 for it ,was asking 9800. I wound up with 01 I30 instead. A little more luxury for the same price. Paid 9,700 with 80K miles. The Maxima didn't have the same leg room the I30 had for my 6'-2" frame. I like the Maxima look in that year and the color is what I was looking for. Not many 5 speeds around that I saw when I was looking. Getting old didn't want to shift gears any more.

Yeah i know this is kinda old but....the only anniversary addition is the 2001 Nissan Maxima. The big difference between gxe, gle, and se is that the se comes standard with white gauages whereas the gxe doesnt come at all and gle is an option. the se always has fog lights, sunroof, and spoiler. The GXE usually doesn't come with any of that stuff at all unless optional and the gle comes with a sunroof and most of the time fog lights and rarely a spoiler. Whereas the interior....the gle and se come with bose stereo system and the gxe doesn't. gxe will never find leather in it and the se is optional and most of the time gle always comes with leather. The main difference you can tell from the AE addition year with the other gle, gxe, or se is that the AE edition comes with a body kit on it....its not a huge dramatical body kit difference...you'll mainly notice the back bumper difference. I personally own the SE cause mine came with the spoiler, leather, fog lights, sunroof, and the rare heated seat and automatic temperature control edition. The GLE is the most costly and suppose to be most luxurious but i like the SE the best due to the sports suspision and the white gauges and better packaging to make the car look sportier. Hope this helps.

The one you're looking at is almost exactly like my max. I don't have the faux wood accents, mine's black leather and merlot exterior (maroon). I love my car. The 5-speed rocks. I wanted a black AE but when I found this one the price was so right I bought it on the spot. The 17" wheels were an option. It's a great vehicle.

A couple of things that have gone wrong with mine:1. O2 sensors. 2 failed, replaced all 4 ($225).2. Coil packs. 1 failed, dealership replaced all 6 ($550).3. Wheel bearing. 1 failed and damaged the wheel hub ($500).

1 & 2 are common issues, 3 is probably a more isolated issue. With the mileage on this model it's probably far removed from these issues. Hope this helps!
