hi, this is my 1st post on NICO, and i already have a question. I have a 1998 Automatic (bah!! couldnt find a manual with as many low mile as this one, only 50,000!! i also got it at a low price. so it was a steal) 240sx SE. I want to upgrade my stock brakes to give me more stopping power. Ive heard of people taking the stock Brembos from G35 s and swaping them onto the 240. i know there 5 lug pattern. but my real question is what parts do i need to do this? Do i just need the actual brakes or do i need the booster pump mounted to the firewall and all of the other components. Im not worried about it clearing my rims, because they 18 s and are 9 s in the front and 10 s in the back. Your help is greatly appreciated. o and btw i searched. thanks again.

Welcome!

I have never seen a G35 brake swap but there are plenty of Z32 brake upgrades avail. Also Q45 as well.

300zx, skyline, and Q45 brakes all pretty much bolt on, with the exception of new lines and redrilling the rotors (if you have 4 lugs). You're gonna need calipers and rotors definately, if there's anything else somebody will let you know.

I met a guy this weekend who said he had G35 Brembos on his S14. He said it wasnt very difficult.I hope your wheels can clear the calipers...

thanks for all of the ideas. youve all been a big help already. the wheels should clear it. my rims are (fr) 18X9-inch Buddy Club P1 Racing II 2 piece. and in the rear 18X10-inch. so i think they should. o and BTW if u ever see him again can u ask him what he needed to put the G35 brakes on his 240.

Don't forget tires play the biggest part in how fast you stop too. You can have G35 brakes all the way around but if your'e on poopy tires with little to no tread left... it won't matter.

its been discussed a couple times and from what i remember we came to the conclusion that the work to swap them really wasnt worth it for the small increase over Z32 brakes, which are straight bolt on and very strong brakes...plus your tires are fine for hard braking

your car sounds nice, have any pictures?

youre running 18" azenis?? tire = good braking diameter = bad braking

i didnt even know they made azenis that big, lol

edit - wait, those arent azenis sports, are they? then those should give ok braking, ive never really heard much about them, i have the azenis sports, in a 15" diameter, and the braking with those is very nice, but thats a mighty big tire youve got there.

not yet. just of the stock pics. if u want to see them let me know. ill be glad to show em'. i ordered the wheels a couple weeks back. and they need to be special ordered from japan so they should be here in 45-60 days. i was just asking about the brakes so i could get a head start on those. but when i get my rims and my coilovers ill for sure put some pics up on NICO. Anyone know how much i might be able to get Z32 s for?? thanks

ohh and btw im pretty sure i went with the Azenis Sports

well the full z32 conversion with MC can be done simply by buying a kit from a shop, probably $800 or so, but can be done for much less if you go to get the parts and everything from parts stores and junkyards

also what kind of wheels did you get? p1, p1 II, or P1 QF?

Z32 MC will not directly fit a S14... you have to bend the brake lines but its possible

Ill be sure to get some pics up when i got my Buddyclub wheels and coilovers. After that i plan on doing a GReddy turbo kit a Blitz Nur Spec Exhaust, and all those other odds and ends. Well, heres my stock kouki.....

P.S. Have yet to get a CarDomain page. Been busy, but ill get one soon.

Like i said before pretty much stock. That sticker on the window is from Drivers Image in Skokie IL. Great shop, i orderd a Greddy Strut brace and some other little things from them. They are installing my turbo kit when i order it. Anyone heard anything about them. Ive seen many of there cars in magazines and see some of the work they've done and im impressed. Ill keep you all updated when i get my rims and coilovers next.

then i wouldnt recommend a 2 way

1.5 way would be much better suited to your needs...nismo, tomei, and cusco make good models
