Random thoughts on my 1st oil change on the 3.5...

I think someone at the factory used a friggin air ratchet to put the filter on!
Seems like a crappy location for the filter at 1st but other that a little oil on the frame I guess it could be worse (like on my daughters V8 Thunderbird)...

Anyway I swear the engine is quieter now, changed out the factory oil with some Mobil 1 and a PureOne filter (only has 2,500 miles on the ticker).

Quite surprised at how small the filter is; had a helluva time finding a filter wrench to fit. I think it is actually smaller than the one on my bike... Will have to invest in a filter "socket" for future swaps.

Last observation that actually does annoy the hell out of me- Having to wait 10 minutes or more to check the oil level. What geneious came up with that?! When I 1st bought the car and filled up with fuel for the 1st time, I was being my normal (OCD) self and checked the oil. Almost had a conniption fit thinking it was over-filled from the factory :ohno:
Gotta be the 1st time I've ever checked the owners manual for a procedure to check the oil level!

Now just need a Blackstone analysis in a few months to see how she's running!

The oil filter is in a hard to reach spot, you're right. Turn the wheel all the way and pop the splash guard off, voila! After I let it drain real well, I think it takes me less than 30 minutes now.

If you're as OCD as I am, go buy some replacement washers for the drain plug also. Its recommended to change that as well when you pop the drain.
