Probably smarter to purchase a throw away car with a stick to learn on. Most likely could get one for 500-600 bucks, drive it until you really understand sticks and then pick up a 'G'. The next problem would be exactly how practical is the coupe? You may want one, but you do have a family coming with all of the things that come with it like strollers, diaper bags, car seats, and so on.

If you want the best looking car on the road...get the coupe. The coupe is one of the hottest car i've seen. And believe me, you'll be kicking yourself if you get the sedan. But since you're settling down and getting ready to have a family....I guess you can go with the boring sedan.....

It'll be just fine, i purchased an '07 G35C 6MT as my first manual car. What i do recommend tho is find a friend of yours who drives stick to give you some pointers and hopefully would teach you on their car at least so you get the gist of it. I drove stick for about 2 hrs before purchasing my car, i was nervous as hell when i took it for a test drive tho haha i didnt want to look all retarded if i stalled on the test drive. The car is still like new with no problems. Simply tell the guy at the dealership that you are rusty and haven't driven stick in like 10 yrs haha. After purchasing it, I did stall a couple times, had difficulty parking on slopes and what not, but it'll become second nature in no time. DO IT!

get the sedan, a g35x, best of both worlds in my opinion... and since you have a kid coming you'll have the extra space you need with the fun you want
