Problems I had with my car on E-Manage Blue.

1: Crappy idle 2: Bad idle A/F and could never make it right. 3: Throttle problems when engine is not warm. Tries to choke and die. 4: Stomp on gas and the engine was lazy. Due to the fact that it would always overcompensated the fuel. 5: When on the gas a little and push in clutch the car would try to die from being to rich. (Turbo still sucks in air for a sec) 6: The car just seemed to be lacking power.

My new E-Manage Ultimate. (With the same exact tune)

1: Idle is smooth. 2: Good idle A/F. When I change a number it does something! 3: No more issues with the car being cold in the morning. Does not try to die. 4: The gas peddle seems very crisp and responsive. I tap it and it wants to move. 5: When I push in the clutch from part throttle it no longer trys to die. 6: The car feels like it has more power at lower boost. (Prob due to the airflow meter not being screwd with)

All in all its about the best ~$500 I have spent on my car. And in one day brought me so much joy in driving my car.

Tonight I am going to Wire in my Water temp, Crank Angle, Cam Angle, Knock sensor, Speed Wire, And any other option this thing has.

Ohh I also already wired in my LM-1 A/F into the Ultimate so I am going to try out auto tune... Muhahaha!

After I get my Cam Angle and Crank Angle I will be able to see and set timing easy! This is going to be fun. Almost like a stand-alone.

Whoa thats cool, so when you wire in a wide band it has an auto tune option, let me know how that goes might have to consider one hehe

To wire up the wideband you have to buy E-01 Pressure Sensor Harness. http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/index. ... timate:Cut the "White" end off and attach the wideband output to the White wire. (You need to make sure the Wideband and E-Manage are using the same ground. I'm going to bridge a ground wire to make the signal match better.)

I just need to attach the Water temp to finish off the auto tune.

I just found a cheep price from some no name and asked Horse Power Freaks to match it...

BTW dont set -10 timing over 50% throttle when the speed wire is not attached to cancel the -10 above XX speed... lmao -14.1 deg at 8.2 psi is a little too safe.

That sucks to hear, considering I just bought a used Blue unit. Did a shop do the tune, or is this the stock tune from a kit(greddy)? The shop I'm having mine tuned at said they are familiar w/the Blue unit, so I'm hoping they can make do with it.

The ultimate does look friggin' sweet.

Can you provide more details on the problems you had? What maps did you have tuned, and did you use the injector harness? Open BOV I assume?

Thanks,Slip

I have never gone in and had my car "tuned" by anyone. I just installed the Greddy kit put in my E-01 and Tuned as I drove once and a while.

I dont have a BOV... Never botherd. I just let the turbo surge. I might get one someday. Just have not found one I like yet. Mabie the new Greddy BOV?

The Ultimate has lots of maps. I just set my timing map to take off .5 per boost after 6psi. And I just copied in my old data into the Injector map.

I did rewire my injectors real quick to attach the new 14 pin connector. I have not finished installing it yet. I was thinking about doing this tomorrow.

I'm still running 10:1 af in a lot of spots. And now my main ECU is sending 100% duty spikes once and a while while I am cruzing down the road. Very anoying. If it keeps it up I'm guna get pissed and replace the fuker. Anyone have a cheep 95 manual ECU they wana part with?

Once I get it all wired up I "Might" go in and use a mustang dyno to tune it a little. But I think I can do it fine on the road myself. I'm not out to make the most power... And it gives me something to screw with all the time.

Yeah I've been eyein up the ultimate also but I can't even afford the wideband for my car so the price of the ultimate is a lot out of my price range but so far everyone that gets one loves it and seems to put the blue to shame. Oh well I can dream, good luck with your tuning.Peace,Pat

I hear 'ya there. I'm hoping that the ECU tuning takes off here soon. I'm confortable with installing boards, and burning PROM's, but not so much the tuning itself. When the software/emulators are at a point that my local dyno guy can understand them(and not take a full day to work with it), I'll go that route.

One of the features with the Ultimate is that you can use the pressure sensor in place of the MAF... how does the unit know how to translate the pressure sensor readings into the appropriate MAF voltage? Is there an "in" and an "out" sensor selection, kinda like in the SAFC?

They have a MAF Output table that you can input what #'s you want the Stock ECU to see at rpm vs load.

I do not think it will convert Pressure to MAF signals on its own. It would be nice if it did.

I'm still waiting on the ECU to arrive. Then I will finish my wires and post more info.

I Might purchase a 98-99 M3 this week so I'll have plenty of downtime for the 240 in the near future.

theres no way it could. it can convert maf to maf because 300cfm requires the same fuel from whatever size maf you use, it just scales down the voltage. same with map to bigger map. in order for it to convert maf to map you'd need to know the airflow produced at different psi levels which is pretty impossible.

With the Ultimate... It does the same thing (Almost) as a stand alone. It alters the Duty and Duration of the injectors. Any size I guess... I dont see why it would have a limit.

Got all the wires but speed attached and auto tune is cool but ya have to be carefull. I had mine set to respond at 10ms... It would take the Map from +30 to -90 is one pass... Whoops! Thats not good!

My water temp is 183f after a few boost's... Is that good? Its never gone past 185.

Well the Auto-Tune works awsome. Once you get the wideband signal to match :P

I had a few spots at low boost that would shoot into the 9 a/f range at 3000-3800rpms at 6psi. I set up my auto tune map to put them at 11.8 and after about 6 pulls it was all flattend out. It did a few cels -7 to -14's through the area.

Anyone with a Blue I would sugest getting an Ultimate.

I also set my anti stall feature which the blue has... Now I don't even have a chance to bog and kill my engine.

I'm going to set up some dyno time soon and fix all my maps... Tuning is super easy.

It does not. You need to fill out the MAF output table yourself... which should not be that hard if you use the datalogging features.

I'm definitely interested in changing my blue to the ultimate... once I rebuild and safe up a bit.
