Nissan Rogue Recall 15V032000

Electrical & Lights, January 26, 2015

An electrical short may develop under the interior carpet on the driver's side of the vehicle, this could lead to a fire.
What Should You Do?

As of this writing Nissan has not released a notification schedule for this recall. If you don't receive notification in a timely manner and believe you should have, please contact your dealer for further instruction. They may ask for your vehicle identification number (VIN), so please have it handy when you call.

Summary:

A mixture of snow/water and salt can seep through the interior carpet on the drivers side resulting in an electrical short in a wiring harness connector under the carpet. If left unchecked this could lead to a fire. Dealers will inspect the kick panel wiring harness connector and if necessary install a new harness connector and waterproof seal.

Does anyone have an idea what this connector is for? I have an electrical gremlin in my radio (it does not always remember the last station/volume level when turned on) and am secretly hoping this fixes it.

Glad I have Weathertech floor mats! They are almost white from all the salt from this winter.

We just had the work done on this recall today. They told us there wasn't any damage to the harness, but they went ahead and installed the seal. They also wanted to perform the emissions recall (ECU flash) but I told them no way, not until I know more about what the re-flash actually does. Apparently, there have been problems with the ECU re-flash and I didn't want to create a problem that wasn't there in the first place.

As for the post about the WeatherTech floor mats, amen to that. Those things are great for people who like to or must drive in the snow. When the tech looked under the carpet to do the harness seal recall work, he told me it was pristine down there. :bigthumb:

I have a 2013 Rogue Special Edition, just finished calling my dealership and they said my vehicle is not affected. I guess that means that not all 2008-2013 vehicles are not affected? Also, the Nissan's Vin check site is also reporting that my vehicle is not one of the affected ones.
