Hey everyone, This is my build thread for the "Green Vert"

It all began 6 years ago, when I bought my 1992 240sx convertible with 90,000kms. I started a thread back then, but it never really took off, due to slow progress, and it hasent been finished ever since, which I'll explain later.

The car was a project from the start, the person who owned it before me started to strip the car down for restoration, but lost interest and sold it to me. I got the vert and 2 parts cars for $2000. There were some parts missing but I had plans to do a complete makeover, to resurrect this beast. Here are some pics from when I first got it.

I immediatetly started tearing into her and stripped it inside and out. My plan was to turbo charge the Ka and do a silvia front end swap. As time passed I had more plans for her like body kit,, wheels, new interior and convertible top, 5 lug swap, z32 brake upgrade, etc.
Here are some pics from about 6 years ago at the beggining of the tear down.

I started ordering parts for it, and things got on there way. Got some DC2 Recaros, s14 5 lug swap and version select body kit like the one in the last pic.

It got sand blasted where it had minor rust and got epoxied. Than came time to fit the new body kit.

And thats when things came to a hault. :tisk: The body shop owner got shut down and went broke. The car was stuck at the shop, and there was nothing I could do about it. I thought I might never see my car again, I was pissed beyond belief. When the dust settled he reopened another shop but by then things were never the same between us. After promissing and prommising that he'll finish it, he never did, and I almost came to the point of giving up. I told him I'll sue him, and after a long battle with him I got my car back last fall, in the summer of 2012.

On a brighter note, I got the tuning bug back and that brings us to now. The engine got messed up sitting for so long and was smoking really bad when I got it back. My whole plan to turbo the KA was down the drain. Instead of rebuilding the motor I sold all the turbo stuff I got for it, and bought a SR swap donor car. I did the engine swap myself . Here are some pics of that and getting the car stripped again, painting the engine bay, and undercoating the underneath. Along withe engine swap came some more goddies. Nismo two way differential, and hks 4inch high flow exhaust.

I found some really clean silvia coupe doors, wingless trunk lid and under the tail light trim, and swapped them over.

I found that the back fenders were lacking in style so I rolled them using a torch and hammer before fitting the new rear overfenders. For which I now need spacers to fit the 17x9.5 +17 offset Work XD9 s

Deciced that I'm gonna finish the rest of the work myself and do the body work and paint too. Here are a few teaser pics of the color I chose. Lexus Dessert sage mettalic. I sprayed the inside of the hood and trunk lid so I dont have to do it when I'm finishing the car. I'l just back mask it so it dosent get over spray.

I've been doing body work and final fitting of the kit for the past few weeks. The body kit did not fit too well, and required some major modifications. With the front wide fenders, the front bumper needed to be cut in half and I had to add 2 inches of fiberglass to strech it to fit. I also filled the ricer vent hole :gapteeth:

Its painful to watch paint cure but I need to wait a few more days until the clear hardens, to put it all back together. The paint job turned out good, except for a few runs in the clear but I will deal with those later and wet sand and polish them out. Here is another teaser, I just put the back wheel next to it for the picture

Its been awhile so here is an update, today I put it mostly back together and took a few photos to share. Still waiting on the rear spacers for the wheels, and front lower s14 ball joints. Next week I want to start putting the interior back together and I still need to do the convertible top too.
