I've been around the forums for a while but never really started any build threads, so here is my latest project. I bought a 1989 240sx coupe back in september of last year. She was pretty rough but, I had a vision, and could not resist the urge and bought it. It had a single cam engine originally but came with a newly swapped ka24de and 5 speed with around 90,000 kms, and a silvia front end, so I was pretty excited. These are a few pics of the first day I bought it home

The body was really rough and even had rust, but I was determined to make her shine once again. Since I worked at a body shop, fixing it was not a problem. The first job was to take care of the rust. So started sandblasting and the body work began. These next few pics might be scary but its all been taken care of.

These are the after pics, sandblasting and spraying epoxy on all of to prevent rust coming back, . The rusted areas were redone in fiberglass, molded, alot of shaping and sanding

decided to shave the antena and make it a wingless trunk

Meanwhile, started ordering parts, 5 lug swap, new bushings, tie rod ends, traction bar, s14 balljoints, tein coilovers, silvia steering wheel, recaro seats.

than one weekend decided to undercoat the wheel wells, it took a long time because I wire wheeled the entite underside.

Here are a few teaser pics of my other project. My 92 vert ohhh yaaa

So getting back to the body work, , I drove it getto style for a few monthts, it was 2 colors and I knew getting it painted was gonna take some time, cause of work and just being busy in general so one day i masked her of and primed it so atleast its all one color.

I was stoked cause I had two sets of wheels for it but than winter came and I had to put my snow tires on.

So a few days ago I decided on the color I wanted, actually a two tone and we worked on her for 3 solid days. Alot of body work, there was not one panel without a dent, maybe the gas cap door.

so we masked her

than started fixing the dents and inperfections, some chump kids decide to run over the roof and she was wavey as @#*% This happened before I bought her so there was not much I could do about it except fix it. We popped out the bigger dents and than did body wok on it. In the next pic, look at all the dark grey spots. Those are all the low spots after we sanded it

once again came the kitty hair fiber glass

this was hell to fix, sanded it down than prime again, than fill, than prime, than etch, than fill, than agin and again untill it was perfect

so the next few pics are of the body work, we looked over it like a hawk, after we filled the dents came a light coat of glaze and we primed the whole thing again

I never sanded so much in my life

After 3 coats of the gold, we let it sit for a few hours and unmasked it. For a little extra awsomeness we decided to do a gold metal flake with a prizmatic effect in the clear coat. The cameara dosent pic it up to well but you guys should see it in the sun. Anyways on with the pics. 5 coats of clear, here we go.

We let it cure over night and the next morning we unmasked it and assembled it back together

Looks real good!!

Is it me or is the passenger side front headlight/hood/bumper seem to be facing downward in all the pics?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I took a couple pics last night to try some shots at sunset, but I really want to take it somewhere for a photoshoot real soon.

One of the mods I completly forgot about is retrofitting my headlights with Acura TSX projectors and installing my new 4300k HID kit, here are some pics of that too

and I just took these in my garage the clear coat in the light

than tryed on my summer rims I'll have more pics of that latter

I need to adjust the camber in the front but its just the look I was going for

I'll post more pics later

I got a deal since I helped and worked there. I bought all the paint for around $580

Wow, nice job on the paint work! I think the summer wheels/tires will look great when you get the alignment all sorted out- very nice work!

Mmmm, yummy coupe. Man, i was really set on picking up an s14, but jeez, with all these really nice looking coupes lately, i'm kinda leaning towards making my second 240sx an s13 coupe. After getting an insight to what it'll look like with the summer wheels, this is definitely one of my favorite two-tones so far. Keep up the good work.
