I know I'll probably catch grief from other members for what I'm about to say but factory HID shouldn't be that big of a deal since you can buy aftermarket HID kits that work just as well. The reason I choose the earlier model y33s over the 99+ were the rear tailights. Considering all things are equal as far as how the car was maintained I always loved how the 97-98s taillights looked. But the 99+ had my nod as far as the headlights and grille. But with time and patience you can change those, like how I did. As for HIDs, I'm personally looking for a kit now for the fog lamps to match my headlights but am not sure whether I have 6000k or 8000k. And I'm thinking of using the "green" HIDs for my high beams, just for show since I never use them as isQfortyfiver wrote:from my research it seems to be the bread and butter of all Y33 models in terms of PRICE to features ratio.
I have to have HID, it's a necessity.
yeah I like the older 97 to 98 tail lights better but the 99 just seems to have all the more modern upgrades.Solini wrote:I know I'll probably catch grief from other members for what I'm about to say but factory HID shouldn't be that big of a deal since you can buy aftermarket HID kits that work just as well. The HID's and the sunshade are very nice to have. I also like the clock.Falkdesigns wrote:99 has these items not on 97-98:

That's pretty much it right there.
I prefered the 97-98 tails, and I did NOT want the adjustable suspension as I always planned to lower my car with aftermarket stuff. I could have bought a 99 for the same price at the time (~16-17k in March 2004) but I wanted black, and my Q came from the original dealer that sold it to begin with, and had full service history, plus they installed brand new headlights ($950 each) to convince me to take it.
when I say "bread and butter", I meant bread and butter of the Q line.AZhitman wrote:Your analogy is being used incorrectly.
"Bread and butter" commonly refers to a "staple" item, something of high volume that provides the bulk of one's subsistence, or the main method for making a living.
For example: Made-for-TV movies are Valerie Bertinelli's bread and butter.
The base model Civic has long been Honda's bread and butter.
Intentional walks are Barry Bonds' bread and butter.
No Q45 has ever been Infiniti's "bread and butter". That title would likely fall to The G20 in the 90's, the G35 twins in the 00's, and the I30/I35 in between.
This lesson has been brought to you by the letter Q.
That's NOT very cool now, is it?Qfortyfiver wrote:......... Are you a complete idiot ? .........

That would be "cream of the crop".Qfortyfiver wrote:

Heeyy, that's what I said! Does that mean I "treed" you?AZhitman wrote:

Yeah I didn't know they existed. The first time I saw them were on a prototype Audi. But a friend who recently went to Saudia Arabia said he saw them on a couple of cars as well as some people who've said they've seen them on cars in Japan. All searches on google resulted in nada. So maybe I'll just have to waitIWannaS15 wrote:Green HID's?!?

You shoulda just said to SEARCH!!!!maxnix wrote:Q = Quintessential
The incorrectly used analogy referenced by Greg is a malapropism, albeit the misuse of a phrase instead of a word. I won't reveal the etymology of that word, but it is easily discoverable.
Wes, surprisingly I don't know if this has anything to do with them being JDM. But I looked at a 1999 Q that was at the Infiniti dealership while I was getting my headlights installed. And compared the two and they were the exact same. But than again you did say overrall, leaving roomfor a few exceptions.elwesso wrote:
Overall, HID kits in halogen housings wont work really efficient....
it would be a little hard to tell since camera exposure puts a lot of variables in the mix and all that, but if you could get a picture showing both the fogs and the headlights i could give you an educated guess.Solini wrote:Thanks man, I appreciate it. Question before I make a new thread or you any good at being able to tell what color bulb is being used by looking at the light Because I'm trying to get a kit to match the fogs but now sure whether they're 6000k or 8000k. I have a pic if that would help
