from my research it seems to be the bread and butter of all Y33 models in terms of PRICE to features ratio.

I have to have HID, it's a necessity.

LOL!

The Y33s are merging together as far as pricing.. a year or so ago the 97-98s would be 10 grand, and the 99-01s would be like 20 grand, now the 97-98s are around 7 grand and the 99-01s are like 12-15....

I think its probably worht the extra money.

I know I'll probably catch grief from other members for what I'm about to say but factory HID shouldn't be that big of a deal since you can buy aftermarket HID kits that work just as well. The reason I choose the earlier model y33s over the 99+ were the rear tailights. Considering all things are equal as far as how the car was maintained I always loved how the 97-98s taillights looked. But the 99+ had my nod as far as the headlights and grille. But with time and patience you can change those, like how I did. As for HIDs, I'm personally looking for a kit now for the fog lamps to match my headlights but am not sure whether I have 6000k or 8000k. And I'm thinking of using the "green" HIDs for my high beams, just for show since I never use them as is

Green HID's?!?

I'd considered any Y33. I'm not sure which taillights I like the best and I'd be able to retrofit HID's on the earlier models. The interior would play the biggest factor for me. I need more seat time to make an accurate judgement. Ive always heard the grilles were different, but I never could spot the difference til I looked at two pics side by side...

yeah I like the older 97 to 98 tail lights better but the 99 just seems to have all the more modern upgrades.

I prefer the 99 + tails. Others seem a bit bulky.

99 has these items not on 97-98:

HID optionAnalog clockmovable rear seat headrestsrear sunshadesteering wheel mounted stereo controltrunk lights deletedT model had adjustable shocks

That's pretty much it right there.

I prefered the 97-98 tails, and I did NOT want the adjustable suspension as I always planned to lower my car with aftermarket stuff. I could have bought a 99 for the same price at the time (~16-17k in March 2004) but I wanted black, and my Q came from the original dealer that sold it to begin with, and had full service history, plus they installed brand new headlights ($950 each) to convince me to take it.

The HID's and the sunshade are very nice to have. I also like the clock.

Thanks for the list Falk. Any significant changes in 2000? I thought I read they added/revised more things, but that seems unlikely a year after major revisions. The 2000 AE is just a t model with appearance additions, right?

Your analogy is being used incorrectly.

"Bread and butter" commonly refers to a "staple" item, something of high volume that provides the bulk of one's subsistence, or the main method for making a living.

For example: Made-for-TV movies are Valerie Bertinelli's bread and butter.

The base model Civic has long been Honda's bread and butter.

Intentional walks are Barry Bonds' bread and butter.

No Q45 has ever been Infiniti's "bread and butter". That title would likely fall to The G20 in the 90's, the G35 twins in the 00's, and the I30/I35 in between.

This lesson has been brought to you by the letter Q.

when I say "bread and butter", I meant bread and butter of the Q line.

why the heck would I pretain it to Infiniti's or Nissan's ? I'm talking about the Q45. Are you a complete idiot ? WHERE IN MY POSTS DO I SPEAK ABOUT INFINITI'S IN GENERAL ?

"Cream of the crop" would be a much better analogy. Even so, the F50 is the "Cream of the Crop" out of the entire Q line. But the Y33 is the best looking body

And I can't believe you told AZhitman "bullsht" to his post. But being a noob, you probably don't realize he owns this site.

That's NOT very cool now, is it?

I would think that you'd be a little more mature with your replies.

FWIW I prefer the 99/01 taillights and IF I got a Y33 that's the model I'd look to get.

Yeah I didn't know they existed. The first time I saw them were on a prototype Audi. But a friend who recently went to Saudia Arabia said he saw them on a couple of cars as well as some people who've said they've seen them on cars in Japan. All searches on google resulted in nada. So maybe I'll just have to wait

Q = Quintessential

The incorrectly used analogy referenced by Greg is a malapropism, albeit the misuse of a phrase instead of a word. I won't reveal the etymology of that word, but it is easily discoverable.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Question before I make a new thread or you any good at being able to tell what color bulb is being used by looking at the light Because I'm trying to get a kit to match the fogs but now sure whether they're 6000k or 8000k. I have a pic if that would help

Wes, surprisingly I don't know if this has anything to do with them being JDM. But I looked at a 1999 Q that was at the Infiniti dealership while I was getting my headlights installed. And compared the two and they were the exact same. But than again you did say overrall, leaving roomfor a few exceptions.

The later HID low beam units will fit the earlier FY33, but usually lack the later's height adjustment.

My upgrade only cost $20K as it came with the car!

it would be a little hard to tell since camera exposure puts a lot of variables in the mix and all that, but if you could get a picture showing both the fogs and the headlights i could give you an educated guess.

also in case you want to try guessing yourself, 6k in real life is like, very bright white with no yellow at all, possibly a verrry small amount of blue. 8k is like straight up blue lightbulb
