1999 QX4 Roof Rack Crossbar Removal

I want to move the cross bars to a different position. The support that connects into the sliding rail has a plastic bolt cover that I need to remove so I can get at the bolt connecting down into the slide rail. I can slightly move the cover but can’t get it out without breaking the plastic insert. How do I get it out, without breaking it?

I've always thought you remove the rear-end caps (caps at the very rear of the tracks) and the should slide out that way?

I have the same roof racks on mine and I was literally just trying to figure out the same thing without success. It looks like you might need a special tool for the little screw/socket looking thing on the top, loosen that and then slide the cover off? Hopefully someone else will chime in. Let me know if you figure out.
