Welcome to Nico! The Terrano's inspired quite a few people here

My guess is that you could install one of those, but it's probably way more work than you're probably willing to invest. The big problem is there's additional hardware behind the rear panel to support the weight of the carrier which is missing if it wasn't installed in the factory. You'd have to locate and install that extra hardware (which may not be possible once the car's assembled).

I don't mean to come across as a naysayer; I just remember seeing a thread where someone was looking to do the same thing with a WD21 and turning green at what needed to be done.

As far as acquiring Terrano parts, I've heard people around here say they've had luck finding them on eBay.

If you're looking to relocate the spare to somewhere other than the bottom (there's a number of reasons to do this), you could always throw it on the roof. There's all sorts of baskets and racks you can install on the roof to complement that route.

Now you've got me curious. What are some reasons to do this, atraudes?

They're both offroading-related reasons. It's supposed to give you slightly better angle of exit (though whether it does and how much is debatable), and better access to the spare if you end up with an axle on the ground (or in the ground). Some situations can leave you without the ability to lower the spare. Also, some accessories like jerry can carriers are made to strap onto the spare tire carriers like the one videonerd96 is after.

Thank you soo much for the information
I kinda had a feeling of was gonna be a lot of work, but I think I want to still do it. Do you atraudes, know any more information about what kind of reinforcement need to go to the body.

Sorry, I haven't been online for a while. Things have been kinda crazy lately! I don't, and the FSM doesn't seem to be much help. My advice would be to hit up some scrap yards and pull apart a Pathfinder to see what's going on under the sheetmetal. They shouldn't be too hard to find. I remember my ex's XE had one.

So, kind of a late followup, but I was flipping through the random picture thread on NPORA and saw that CDN_S4 found a tire carrier that mounts on the trailer hitch. It looks like it even swings to the side like the door-mounted one would! More food for thought

Oh, and another advantage of having a tire on the rear or roof is if you run oversize tires. The bottom can only accommodate larger sizes to a limit.

CDN_S4 had that made. It does mount to the hitch, but he's thinking about integrating it into the hitch so that it doesn't protrude as far back.

I'll be retrofitting and older R50 carrier on mine soon. I have one (two actually) in my garage now, probably dropping it for powder coating tomorrow. I don't think it's as difficult as others have made it out to be. The WD21s had a separate reinforcement piece installed during assembly, but no one's provided any proof of such hardware on an R50. I was at the junkyard last weekend when I pulled the 2nd one...I recorded the sound of heavy taps to the area, and the sounds are almost identical, which is what I expected. Couldn't pull the interior apart to get visual confirmation, though (rear hatch wouldn't open and it was 120° inside the vehicle...and I was already fatigued from pulling a couple differentials right before).
