1999 QX4 Key question?

I have a 1999 QX4 without the side airbags assuming this is an earlier 1999 model? Anybody? Only reason why I am asking is because I need to know if my key has a transponder built in it. I read some where transponders were built in 1999.5 models which have side airbags equipped right?

look at your key where the metal meets the plastic. Is there a small rectangular block outline to one side of the metal? If so yes it is a chip key. If not then no.
