I have a 1999 Quest. I want to bleed the coolant system but the Haynes manual I have addresses what must be an earlier or smaller engine. Can anyone tell me where to find the engine air relief plug and the air relief cap for the heater pipe on my engine? I do believe it is the larger engine of the 1999 models. Thanks!

There is a little bolt on top of EGR valve cooler body. Warmup engine and start unscrewing that bolt. You'll see some bubbling and then coolant start to come out. Screw bolt all the way in and you are done.

Out on a limb here but I'm guessing Nissan does not do like Ford, or include extra small hoses to bleed the engines 100% with zero effort. It also serves to get coolant including in any reservoir up to full temp much quicker to lower coldstart emissions. Bring a Ford up to stat open temp and any bleeding is already done.

mac, alternate method , works on many cars , no TOOLS needed , "no mess -no fuss", done with car NOT RUNNING & below 130 degrees (best in mornnig) ! :chuckle: Here's what you do (preferably car faced UPHILL inclined) open hood , fill overflow to HOT MARK or slightly above (your SUCKING COOLANT back in now :yesnod ) ,IF 'n radiator cap working proper -
TWO HANDS GRAB upper radiator hose SQUEEZE HARD - you SEE & HEAR Air in upper hose exhausting into overflow - at END of SQUEEZE STOP- SLOWLY (4 seconds) let go of 2 handed grip -NOW you see / hear COOLANT SUCKING INTO SYSTEM ! Must keep overflow near HOT mark for intake of coolant.:rotfl
Repeatadly do this until (and you will) FEEL UPPER HOSE BECOME more & more SOLIDLY FULL W/COOLANT! Usually 5 or 6 times you can stop , and if done 3-4 days consecutive , the exchange of air between drives and from each EVACUATION attemps I've found to be just as good as a bleeder screw , MY SCREWS BROKEN !! :lolling:
