My Q has been running really rough lately. To start it I have to push on the gas, and then after it's started if I try to rev it, it goes to down to like 50 rpms for a few seconds before correcting itself and actually revving. When the car is actually running, it's kind of shaky and smells very gassy, and when revved, white smoke comes out. The smoke only comes out of the right tailpipe though. The only codes I've gotten so far are p1320 (ignition signal), p0300 (random multiple misfire), and p1492 (evap/purge solenoid). My TCS and SLIP lights are also on. I've looked on forums for similar problems, but none have seemed as bad as mine. The only ideas I have is either a clogged/messed up catylitic converter(s), or something wrong with my fuel injectors, however, I just redid the seals on my injectors and they drove fine for about two days before I got the misfire.
I am completely and utterly lost here, any ideas on what the problem is are welcome.
Thank you

The white smoke contraindicates a bad cat. If the smoke smells like coolant you probably have a blown head gasket on the right bank, if it smells acrid and chemical then one or more of your new injector seals are bad on that side and the injectors are leaking. The TCS and Slip lights will be derivative, the ECM stops sending engine speed after it throws most types of serious engine codes.

Thank you, that is very helpful. Do you know if theres anything that I could've done wrong that would make the injector seals go bad? I'm guessing there isn't way to fix this without removing the injectors again?

Did you clean any scum-ridging off the tops and bottoms of the cavities and then use a neutral lube on the o-rings before pressing them in? I usually use Gumout with a toothbrush for the former and Vaseline for the latter.

Unfortunately, no. New o-rings will be in order.

No I didn't, that is definitely a useful bit of info. I cleaned them off with carb cleaner and put the new seals back on. Thank you for your help!

You're most welcome. Just make sure to use a neutral lube. If you don't have Vaseline, white lithium or electrical di-grease are also fine. Don't use WD or PB Blaster whatever you do, they won't hurt the rings but you'll be using dynamite if they ever need to come out again.

I just pulled each of the injectors, and just about every one of them had damage to the upper seal, and the seal was pretty loose. I'm pretty sure that happened because I didn't use lubricant last time I put them in. Thanks for all your help!

I did this on my first injector replacement. We're both lucky to avoid hydrolocking!

VStar650CL, what do you think about using motor oil for the injector oring lubricant?

Depends if the seals are Buna or Viton or something else. Motor oil will slowly soften and degrade Buna. Unless you know the composition of your seals, you're better off sticking with a neutral grease.
