All,

I purchased a 1999 Q45t in just about perfect condition with 28K miles on it, and I just love it. I had a local auto shop that I trust do the 30K check (AT flush, radiator flush, fuel filter, air filter, oil change), and I would like to know if it is easy and/or possible for a relatively uncoordinated person (me) to change the in cabin air filter. Since this is supposed to be changed every 15K, I'd like to be able to change it myself if possible.

Where is the filter located, how do I get there, is 15K a reasonable time to change the filter?

Other than the normal maintenance stuff, should I be concerned about anything else between now and 60K?

Jeff

I want to know this too, and I see that he never got a reply from almost exactly one year ago. I know that when I go to my shop, we can look it up on Mitchell Systems, but anyone wanna let me know on here? I want to get one, since I have no idea when it was done last, and it seems like the air vents are a little dusty. How much do they cost, and is the dealer the only place to get it? Thanks!

The carbin-air filter is located behind the glove box. Remove the glove box first, then you'll see it.

It is an easy change with some patience. The FSM has a good description of the procedure. I would say 15K is probably the maximum length of time/mileage.

I found some on a website for 69 bucks each, says you need 2. Does that sound right? Thanks for the replies :)

Call Joe, he's cheaper, and the part number includes two filters.__________________Brian1995 Q45 & Q45t & 2000 Q45

Hi suretytek,

The cabin air filter is behind the glove box as I found out in my 2000 I30. The problem that I encountered was that once I opened the filter slot, there was no filter inside! I saw some leaves in the back.

The thing that I am wrestling is if the 2000 I30 is supposed to have a filter or not. The owners manual does not mention it. I also called Infiniti and they said it was added in model year 2001 and beyond. I checked the owners manual of 2001 I30, and it does describe a cabin air filter, wheras the 2000 does not.

I did have the blower motor replaced because it was making a humming noise at low fan speeds (this is supposed to be a common problem in all Infinitis, there is even a service bulletin out that recommends dealers to put a shroud around the blower if a customer complains!) It is possible that the dealer's mechanic took the filter out when he was replacing the blower motor and never put it back. I don't know if this is the case, because I don't know if the filter has to be removed to replace the blower motor. Any comments, maxnix? I also want to thank you for your previous reply to my question. Maxnix, I did not understand where Joe is, on the left?? I could not find the filter part number on their website.

Any comments?

Hi suretytek,

I forgot to include this link in another G35 forum that shows how to replace the cabin air filter.
