Hi All,
I recently needed to change the brakes on my 1999 Nissan Pathfinder 2WD and I noticed that the passenger brake assembly and the drum was full of black oil. I Know its the wheel seal or(axle seal whatever you want to call it) needs to be changed however, how hard is it to do to change it out. If anyone has experience doing this or has deatailed information about replacing this please let me know. If you need more info please ask.

Thanks

There is a good explanation in the fsm... for my 2001, the page is AX19.... yours should be similar... basically,

1) remove wheel
2) remove drum
3) disconnect parking brake cable and brake tube
4) remove nuts securing wheel bearing cage with bafle plate
5) slide out the axle shaft
6) replace oil seal.. (you will have access from there using a screwdriver)...

I would say once you're setup, should not take more than 30-40 minutes per side.... if there is a lot of rust, you will need either some bolt loosener or a torch... be crefull with your abs sensor (not to damage it).
