My 99 maxima has some serious issues. I love this car and I want to get the problem fixed. It only has 88,569 miles on it. The problem just appeared one day. I was driving along and the check engine light comes on and then there was a loss of power and i cried. lol not really but wanted to. I worked as a salesman at Nissan in Lake Havasu City, AZ and by the time I got to work it was driving as smooth as the day I bought it and pulled with awsome power. Check engine light did not go off, so when I got ready to leave I started my car and again it was idling rough with vibrations when I drove away it had the same loss of power. Im not at all mechanically inclined, but it felt like a cylinder shut down. The next day I had my buddie who was a mech there at Nissan put in on the computer, but my ECU would not communicate with the diag. computer we changed all spark plugs, check all coils, and even kept in running while it was having this problem-disconnected each coil one at a time it only got worse with each one so he determined that there was no problems with the wires or connectors.. Its so strange cause some days it will be fine drive 50 miles running strong and no vibrations. And then there are days that I start it up and its sputters, has major loss of power. If I buy a new ECU will that fix it? or will I run the chance of another problem and that frying the new ECU? PLEASE I NEED SOME HELP! other than that my Max is in mint.. interior is flawless not a single stain in it and only normal chips from frequent long road tripshttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zeropost?cmd=newtopic&id=83#

MAF is in good working condition. Is there a way to re-set ECU ?

My 99 Max GLE has exactly the same behavior in the last couple of months. It seems to loose power/vibrate when the weather gets hot. Sometimes it shakes/vibrates even when stopped at a traffic light w/ AC ON. If I turn the AC OFF the vibration seems to go away or get better but as soon as I start pumping gas I notice the vibration and loss of power. Once I am above 45miles/hr and no stopping, the car runs fine on freeways. I only noticed this problem when accelerating and below 2500RPM.

When the weather is cold I do not notice this behavior that often.

Once the "Service Engine Soon" light came ON, it reported error codes of P303, P1320 all related to misfires on cylinder 3 or ignition error. The mechanic is suggesting ignition coil change s but I want to make sure that it will resolve before I spend the money.

KonellMax, were you able to get your issue fixed? If so what finally fixed it.

I have seen reports/ports around the web about this behavior and they seem to be related to Fuel Injectors, MAF, Ignition Coils, knock sensors etc... But nothing conclusive.
