my sister has a 99 maxima with an intermittant misfiring odb code, which lights up the CEL and wont pass emmission . My uncle did some work on it and had changed spark plugs, coils and injectors, however the problem is still there. He took it to a dealer, they wanted to change the coils saying that was the problem. He told them they were brand new from the dealership. we finally concluded that the ecm is causing the problem.Went to the dealer to find out the price for an ecm , he advise me that if i was going to purchase one from a junkyard i should make sure that the car it came out of is a 1999 & younger, CALI emmision,w/o tract control, auto transmission, with power driver seat. he gave me NISSANS part #2371C 41861RE which none of the junkyards reconizes or have in there system. On my computer there is a # written on the back which is not from nissan ( so i've been told 590-583 42b) which one junkyard cross referance and he said my computer was replaced as the computer is for a m/t not a/t.The #written on the NISSAN paper is A18-N10 Z90 9y18 however this is the wrong # or does it really matter if the car has auto or manual transmission does anyone have the correct # ?, so i can search the junkyards and get her back on the road.

It definitely matters if it is an MT or AT. There are many differences in the wiring of sensors between the two. You need to make sure it comes out of the same year with EVERY single option that your car has or it will not work properly.

What codes do you have to begin with? That is the more crucial question.

A malfunctioning MAF can cause that condition.Cleaning will most likely not resolve the issue.

So i may have been jumping the gun. A friend told me that this model has two crank sensors one at the front of the engine and one at the bell housing can this cause the problem? thank you very much for info and time, i'll let you know if this helps me out.

Did the ECU you got from the junk yard end up working for you? I'm learning quickly that the 99 ECUS have to be similar in SPEC...

I'm actually looking for the ECU with S/N

A18-N10-Z90, but in large letters, does it say "7E"?

[email protected], email me if you still have it available.
