1999 Infiniti QX4 key question?

Does a 1999 Infiniti QX4 use transponder keys? My 1999 QX4 does not have the side air bags meaning it is a early 1999. I want to install remote engine start alarm but am wondering if I need to buy a dealer key for the bypass module because of the transponder. I only have one existing key and purchased some non transponder blank keys.
