I recently purchased a 1999 Infiniti Q45T that is swapped to the Nissan Cima, but the steering rack needs to be replaced. I was wondering how much that cost? and recently my tire starting ticking or snapping, like when i rubber band snaps into a table, i checked to see if it was the CV Joint but thats not it. Any ideas? Losing my mind on these problems.

Welcome to NICO!

Steering rack you're probably best off getting a rebuilt one from an outfit like http://rackdoctor.net/ . I think many people have used that place and have been very satisfied. You can look up the price of the part there, and I'd expect a solid 3-4 hours labor to replace it, so at the end of the day you're probably looking at $500.

Which wheel is starting to "tick" or "snap", i'm assuming since you mentioned CV joint it's in the rear?

I bought a 2000 AE last year. Right before I bought it, the prior owner had the steering rack replaced at a shop here in Phoenix. The shop charged her $500 for a rebuilt rack from a local rebuilder, $165 for labor time, and $70 for an alignment. Unfortunately, the rebuilt rack is already leaking. I have had the car back to the shop and they are going to give me a replacement rack for no charge other than $70 for a new alignment.

I found a rebuilt unit online for about $250. The removal and installation was not bad but took about 4 hours. I spent most of the last hour trying to get my steering wheel lined up since I failed to mark the shaft before I removed it. A simple task for anyone else. Also, confirm before you do the job that your pump is ok. Otherwise you may waste some time finding another one online (best prices in my area). It needs to be installed before the rack is installed. I was glad that it was such
a basic repair and I could save some dough doing it myself.

you can always put the steering wheel straight, take out the keys to lock the column, then turn the steering rack rods to straighten out the wheels. of course you will still need an alignment.
